I began a 10-month stay in Nepal with a few days at Ravi's house. I wish I could've stayed longer. It couldn't have been a better introduction to Nepal. Ravi and his wife, mother and son are lovely people, and the house they have built in Imadol is very impressive. I felt comfortable, secure and relaxed in Ravi's house. My room had all the things Westerners might like: a bed, desk, some drawers, an attached bathroom with a hot shower, Wi-Fi. Ravi also has an innovative water filtration system, so I could fill up my water bottle daily. Kabita and Saraswati's dinners were awesome, especially Kabita's momos. Ravi is an excellent source of knowledge and conversation on Nepali culture, customs and beliefs, and he is also intrigued by other cultures, making for some good conversations. The only downside is that Imadol village is a little ways outside of Kathmandu proper -- to walk to Ring Road is about 2-3km, and I didn't quite figure out the local bus/tempo system that might've sped up my commute into the city. Walking to Patan takes about 30 minutes. It's an interesting walk, though, and you'll pass by lots of nice locals!

In summary, Ravi is a great host who is truly interested in his guests' experience.

A fantastic, warm-hearted family, a very clean, big, new house, (even western toilet, shower with warm water.) Best security, and very good price. There is a bit of a walk thru the rice-fields, to get to the crossroads, (beautiful landscape, scenery), where you can catch local buses to all directions: fast connection to Kathmandu center, Thamel, as well as to Bhaktapur, Nagargot, Dhulikel, etc.. The host speaks excellent german. He, his wife and son all speak english. This is a very good way to learn about nepali life-style, culture, habits, from a hospitable family, as well as from the neighbouring families, children, all very eager to meet and help foreigners. There are practically no tourists in this area. Absolutely the best way to get an introduction to nepali daily life!!!

We stayed with Ravi for a few days and wish we could have stayed for longer. He was so welcoming and we felt like part of the family. The food w as fantastic and it was all traditional Nepalese fare.

The accomodations were clean however the facilities were a little lacking as there was no hot water shower and at some points no water at all. We took it in stride and Ravi was great about providing us with alternative means. The power shut off regularly too but that is a common occurrence in Nepal.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would return. Ravi taught us a lot about the culture and also toured us around the villages. It was great!

Ravi and his family made me feel very welcome from the second I arrived. I stayed with his family in Imadol for 2,5 month.

The location is in my opinion perfect. Its close to Kathmandu and Patan, but without the noise and traffick of the city. Patan is a 30 minute walk or 10 minute busride, and Kathmandu (Thamel) approx. 30 minutes by taxi or 45 minutes by bus.
Kabita is a great cook and very kind, Siddhartha is so much fun and speaks perfectly English, and Ravi was the best help in finding my way around Kathmadu and for my research (the purpose of my visit).

The room i stayed in was very comfortable, and the house provides a great view of the mountains and the Kathmandu Valley.

A great place to stay, where you will feel at home :)
