If you like kich, frills and ornament collections then you will love staying with Paul and Violet. Violet is a clean and neat freak, so a spotless and tidy, large house. Great talkers.

Thank you Sheikh for this complimentary review. I’m grateful that you understand the concept of home stay family arrangements during a short period of time of your stay . Running home stay is not all about money is all about how we committ ourselves and willingness to do hard work , making our home stays comfortable , feel at home, and make it sure that their stay is a pleasure to them. Sheikh thanks again and all the best.

I stayed with Violet and Paul together for 27 nights.
From the first moment on, I felt so welcome by both of them, as I would be their own son.
Violet loves to talk to her homestays and provides them a family atmosphere, as she mentions in her introduction.
I can't remember, when I have had such a great and funny time in my life before.
Her husband Paul always gave me advices how to get around, which sights are more or less worth-seeing.
According to the bad reviews Violet got, I definitely can't confirm them.
The rumors about Paul that he's moody and yells at the homestays are not true.
He's a man who doesn't like to get told lies straight into his face, in which I absolutely agree with him.
If you're keeping to their house rules, being nice and honest with them, this is the best homestay I can recommand in Auckland.
Whenever I come back to Auckland, my choice would be the same again.

    Stefan thank you!!!
Offering our family home for home stays my husband and myself are aware the challenges and rewarding part of it. Help us to connect with people coming form different cultures and nationalities, and gave us to experience the pleasure of hospitality. Stefan is such a pleasure, we have such a FUNTASTIC, AMAZING experience having him as a guest. An easygoing, down to earth, extra intellectual young men. The laughter we shared makes my vertigo comes out in my both ears and blown up by the wind. Thank goodness for your genuine friendship leading us talking different view of life, I learned so much from you and I’m dang Proud of you being adaptable to any situation, understand that we all have different Attitudes, personalities and always adjust your self and take it in a positive way . No worry be happy. Happiness is you habit not a goal and this is something I have to copy from you. Stefan your an inspiration and for sure this qualities you have manifest will makes people around you change their view in life. Enjoy the rest of your holiday all the best . Take care and keep in mind that your always welcome as a part of family.
    Jehovah bless,
    Violet and Paul

    July 2018

We (me and my two sons) have stay with this homestay in July 2018. We are overseas students at ELA English School. My aim was to give my sons chance to practice English language with homestay family members (the wife Violet and the husband Pual). Now, I am going to tell our experience with homestay as it is without courtesy and I will not over or under rate this homestay because people look at reviewers comments and take it in account to decide go further or not. Location: not far from the city center, bus stop 5-6 mints walk from home and 30-40 to get city center by bus. Rooms: Nice, Clean full equipped with essentials. Wife (Violet): She runs homestay business for many years and she is very nice lady, helpful and positively response to any requests or demands from me or my sons. She is very polite, honest and generous. For above reasons I highly recommend this homestay for people who are English native speakers or for those who aren’t need to learn English or don’t have children. Husband (Pual): He is some time nice man, helpful. But sometimes he is with bad mood and start telling orders (do this, don’t do this) and sometimes doing crazy things like; yelling on me or my sons, turn off TV while sons watching TV, turn off the heater and take it to the store which is unacceptable for me or my sons or any one. For these reasons I decided to move out two days earlier without refund. For that I will not recommend this homestay for those people with children. Last day he offered me to drop me off at new homestay and I appreciated this.

Dear Saad thank you for your review.
I agree with you that staying at homestay guest can learn lots of things including how we can improve different languages.Unpleasant experiences between host and guest due to culture differences, language barrier, individuall personallities and miscommunication. Those who are not that open and lack manners usually end up not having an enjoyable experiences. To emmerce into different culture enviroment we have to challenge our comfort zone.
Being a host mum I always do my best to make my guest happy and comfortable and I really appreciate your review. This is important so i can inprove and be an effective host.
I am sorry was not able to interact with you and your sons as it was only a short stay that you had been with us. Your were downstairs and you guys came home late and go early to catch your bus to school.
You are really a model father. We have two chinese boys who have been with us for two years and they are both happy and contented for which they have both improved their english during this time.
We have guests from time to time who have kids and dont have problems as parents they are responsible to look after their own kids. Hosts are not baby sitters or english teachers.

    Paul

My husband is a person with boundaries and sometimes personal preferences. I believe it is hard to teach an old man a new trick. I am very patient with him and always give him a chance to learn and grow and how to give full support to others. Encourage him to give the best to our guests. Saad I apologies and I am very sorry - my husband who a big help to the homestay get around on the first day, buying hop cards and bus routes like he did for you. The reason he was upset with the TV was because your sons were trying to bluetooth their mobile to the TV. This interfered with our own personal tv. He forgot to instruct you to turn the heater on to 3 to warm the room then after 20minutes lower the number to 1. ( this was because our heat pump was faulty.)
The number 3 was too hot for the small lounge which you were using

The other thing that agitate him was the rubbish bin in the toilet. That every morning it was full of used shitty toilet paper ( not flushing down the toilet). Our other home stay guest complained about smell and view of this messy bin. It is my fault that I did not remind you about it.
We give you one weeks notice as I already told you on your booking confirmation that we need the rooms within a certain date. It was your decision to move out two days before your checkout date. We did not ask you to go early. Saad I hope you understand and Paul apologies to you when taking you to you new homestay. Thank you and all the best Violet.

This was our first experience as Homestay guests albeit for one night and a very satisfying one. From the first contact with Violet and her husband Paul, my husband and I felt very much at home. The genuine warmth exuded from them both. Superb all round and would definitely stay again when occasion arises. Thank you sincerely Violet and Paul

Eliot, thank you ! When you check in you told my husband that your looking for jobs and flat to stay. My husband have helped you by giving you few phone numbers of the company looking for workers I know that probably just little things to you. During the time that you stay with us you never call us by name even say hi ! . Some people have no appreciation to host accepting strangers to their beautiful family home with open mind and heart , helping them , offered a roof over their head for little cost. People who have unpleasant experiences are because of lack of MANNERS the way we do and say , lack of communication not friendly and NO respect. You always spilled coffee on our tile floor and you said to my husband “ your wife can clean it “ I’m your host not your slave!! We should have to cultivate a good attitude that will help us to a better life.
