Hot shower and good location (the mall, grocery store, etc. all within a walk away)! Guests get their own fridge and a beautiful back yard you can eat in. We stayed in the "matrimonial bedroom". Has a TV and a lot of nice space to put your things in and on if you're traveling. Guest rooms are slightly detached from the main house so you get some privacy. Dad and son speaks English. The mom is there everyday to open the main door for you but you get your own key to your room. Hyper and sweet dog lives there too. 15 minute Uber to Miraflores.
I loved my homestay experience. Fanny was very accommodating and it was nice to have her nephew show me around the city.
Great stay at the Homestay, felt completely at home. Really enjoyed being able to learn some Peruvian recipes from Fanny. Great central location in Lima, a short taxi ride to any major landmark in the city. Definitely recommend staying here.
I really can't say enough about how much I enjoyed my stay with the Lino family! I booked for a week and ended up staying a month.
The room and home were clean and comfortable, the entire family did everything they could to make my visit to Lima exceptional. I speak no Spanish and they were so patient with my poor communication skills and helping me learn the language so I could get around Lima and make myself understood.
While in Lima I had some dental work done; I had not pre-arranged a dentist so Fanny, (Mrs. Lino) not only recommended an excellent dentist but took me there personally to arrange my appointment explaining to them I was to be treated like a family member, not a tourist. I got several thousand dollars worth of 1st class, extremely professional work done at a fraction of what I would have paid in the U.S.
I was even invited to spend a few days with Richard and his son and nephew in Huacho at the family farm.
Again, my highest recommendation! For a night or a month you will not find a better home stay experience in Lima.
The location in San Borja is near to a big shop Mall and to restaurants. To the city of Lima and to Miraflores you can go easily by taxi. The room was small, simple but clean. In the bathroom there was either water for the toilet or for the shower or for the wash basin. But when you had checked that, it was okay. The breakfast was really small. The best of all was the hoast care, because of that we give 3 hearts. The first day we got many infos from the mother about Lima. After that the son helped us to buy a prepaid mobile card, he went with us to the shop. The second day Richard went with us to the office of cruz del sur and managed a difficult chance of our reservation . And they printed several tickets for us. So the hoast care made us very lucky and helped a lot to manage our trip.

I loved my time in Peru and a large part of this was because I stayed with Fanny and Richard. They were an incredibly welcoming family and really made me feel at home. I was in Lima for 6 weeks working at a hospital that was walking distance; I felt that San Borja was pretty safe. A great thing about this house is that you can get as involved with the family as you like. You can have privacy as all the guest rooms are on the 2nd floor and you can also socialise with the family downstairs and they are always happy to chat to you and teach you more about Peruvian culture.
I did my shopping at the supermarket, which is 3 minutes walk away and cooked in the family kitchen. Fanny would often offer me some of her Peruvian cooking to try which was lovely.
I was also very lucky that I was able to make friends with a girl who was living there long term and showed me around Lima.
The only critical feedback that I can give is that they could maybe provide more resources just for the guests on the 2nd floor. For example I would have to ask for more toilet roll every few days and would have to ask to borrow the family’s iron. In addition, there is just one washing machine for the entire family and all their guests, which means that you sometimes had to wait a few days in order to be able to wash your clothes.
Overall I had a great time staying with this family and would highly recommend it! It has made me want to return to Lima to stay with them in future!
