I had a great stay with Sato and Hidenobu-san during Golden Week in Kannabe! Their children are adorable and I had an amazing time playing with them and attending fun children's day events! I had an incredible time and would love to go back.
Sato-san is an amazing chef and prepares delicious and healthy breakfasts and dinner. She speaks great english, as she has spent time in Oregon as an exchange student. I felt extremely comfortable in their home. If you are curious about how it feels to be a member of a modern Japanese family, this is the perfect homestay for you.
Mimura-San was an excellent host. She has an excellent knowledge of attractions within Osaka and the surrounding area. Upon my arrival, Hisae and her husband provided me with Hanshin Tigers baseball tickets and we attended the game together. It is an experience I will not easily forget.
Hisae is also an amazing cook and provided hearty breakfasts. Ask for a home-cooked Okonomiyaki or Takoyaki (Osaka famous foods) and she will prepare the ingredients for you and show you how to cook them.
The location of the Mimura's apartment is central and is easily connected to all parts of Osaka by the JR loop line. Osaka also has a lively craft beer and foodie scene, ask Mimura-san for advice if you are interested in culinary adventures. Overall I would recommend the Kita-Umeda, Shinsekai, and Namba districts for food, drink and nightlife.
If I return to Osaka I would easily stay with Mimura-san again, the apartment is very clean, spacious and full of amenities, in addition to the location.
I enjoyed my stay with Arlene and her son. Arlene is a friendly and genuine person who speaks perfect English, Japanese and Chinese. She offered a lovely breakfast every morning and helped planned my sightseeing as needed. She even let me borrow one of her bicycles (in my opinion, the best way travel around Kyoto). On the last night, we enjoyed a local Ramen dinner together. I highly recommend Arlene to anyone visiting the area!
Kurara and Sachiko are amazing hosts! I got to experience a calligraphy lesson, a tour of the oldest Sake Brewery in the area and tasting on the first day. I felt very comfortable and at home at their house and they helped me decide on spots to visit from the perspective of locals. This was my first experience with homestay and I would easily book with Kurara and Sachiko again if I return to the area!
