I had a very good stay with Irina and Jony. The location is not in the center, which is easy to reach by bus, though. They were always kind and helpful. The room was nice, with a little table. One can use internet, washing machine and the kitchen. I didn't encounter any problems or
negative surprises and can recommend the stay with Irina and Jony.
I am a PhD student who stayed with Irin and Zhenya for a total of 3 months while conducting research in StP. I could not have had a more positive experience. The (pink) room had everything I needed: a comfortable bed, tons of natural light, a small desk to work at, ample storage, and fast internet. The apartment is small but lacks none of the necessities. Initially I was worried that the neighborhood was too far outside of the city center, but it is literally one Metro stop from Gostinny Dvor. After spending all day in the archives and libraries in the hectic center, it was so nice to come home to a quiet neighborhood with nice parks, grocers, and cafes within walking distance. The best feature of the stay, however, was the hosts. Irin and Zhenya are super friendly, hard-working, and full of helpful tips for life and travel in Piter (and Russia in general). Since they were as busy as I was, it was the perfect balance of having the space and personal time to accomplish my work as well as the opportunity to socialize in the late evening. Irin's English is fabulous, but the best memories of the trip were practicing my faltering Russian during the warm conversations that took place around the kitchen table with the two of them. If you are looking for luxury or free tour guides, look elsewhere. If you are looking for a taste of real life in Russia with some wonderful hosts and comfortable accommodations, then this is the place! I would not hesitate to go back.
Irin and her husband are friendly and welcoming people, they are also great workers.
Their apartment is in a residential area, where you can find a little bit of everything: restaurants, fast-food, shops, bakery, bank ...
The area is not very far from the city center, and it is well served by public transport: bus, trolley-bus, tram
It was a great experience to stay at Irin's place. Every thing is very comfortable and even more important the hospitality I got from Irin and her husband was great. Tasty breakfasts and interesting evening talks made my stay wonderful. Very recommended !
I spent about two months and half living with Irin and her husband.
It was a magnificent experience. The couple was always willing to help me when I had some problems or I just need some help, especially for the first period.
besides Irin helped me some nights to practice my russian for a test at school and I can't be more grateful to her for her help.
The apartment is quite small but there is everything you need and it's located in a quiet place.
Irin was an excellent host! They are great with logistics, helping with finding where things are, and any questions you may have. If you are looking to become a part of everyday life, this is one of the best options in St. Peterburg!
