Our philosophy is 'Carpe diem' but I take it beyond 'siezing the day'. You must also sieze an opportunity. And a stay at the North Lodge is an opportunity, best value for money. I say so because you don't just get a bedroom and a bathroom for what you pay but also exclusive rights to a sitting-cum-dining room with a fridge, microwave, TV, toaster, kettle, china and cutlery. The dining table also serves as a work table for several guests.
There is alao a huge garden and a private lane for your walks, good food - sorry the last one comes according to Jaspreet's moods and you pay according to the day's menu - but be assured of fresh products and best value :)

Set on a plot of 4 acres (natural and cultivated garden), a part of The North Lodge is a listed building, built in the early 1800s. However the interiors and facilities are all modern, cosy, comfortable and elegant. Two bedrooms are available to be let out - one with twin beds and one with a double bed. One bathroom with shower and half tub is independent and is for use by all guests, 4 steps away from both the bedrooms. The hosts or the private guests of the host do not use this bathroom/area.

The surroundings are peaceful, but several villages, towns and cities are easily accessible through public and private transport. By car or bus one can reach Auchterarder, Crieff, and Dunblane in 12-15 mins, Comrie and Bridge of Allan in 20 , Muthil and Braco in 5 , Gleneagles golf resort in 15, Perth and Stirling in 30, Edinburgh in 50 and Glasgow in 1hour. The nearest train stations are Dunblane, Bridge of Allan and Gleaneagles. Bus stop is outside the house.

There is a decent collection of books and guests may borrow them upon request, there is a picturesque view of Ochil hills from the house. Frequent visitors to the garden are roedeer, red squirrels and local birds. Depending on the time of the year, the garden has a different look and color. There are vegetable gardens and a greenhouse in which we grow our own vegetables, and the peach tree gives good fruit once a year. The host is happy to share all the produce, and restless green thumbs will have plenty to engage in, if they wish.

It is difficult to say that this home, its surroundings and location are suited for guests looking for just one type of experience. According to those who have seen it, it is perfect for those who wish to be in the midst of nature, have exclusive running and cycling tracks, and those who wish to enjoy the picturesque villages towns and cities around, and go for shopping or eat out, visit big cities but come to a restful and quiet place to rest in the night.

Within the home there is an option of enjoying solitude (leave-me-alone signals are picked quickly and respected) or having engaging talks about wildlife environment medicine politics travels with the host - on occasions that suit both the parties.

It is ideal for those wanting to immerse themselves in reading or music or meditations, periods of introspection, walks n treks, OR wanting a quiet place for studies or research, OR simply enjoy leisure and healthy living. Working people may also find respite from the daily grind and still have an easy access to offices in nearby cities through a short daily commute.

Jaspreet likes to cook healthy vegetarian gluten free Indian food and a little Italian too. She can cook for the guests if they guest wish to eat dinner at a reasonable expense and inform her in advance.

Worth a visit, so pick up your bags and treat yourself. Carpe diem !

Thank you Iain and Jaspreet! I really enjoyed your hospitality adding greatly to one of my best vacations. It was so peaceful with beautiful scenery all around. And I was able to easily take the bus to Crieff , Dunblane and other areas.
For other travelers know if you are coming by bus you’ll need your GPS on to tell the driver where to stop. Specifically I used my cell phone maps app to know where to ring for the bus to stop. It’s officially a stop but none of the drivers were able to understand where to stop without a form command in the moment. It all worked out well for me, tho ! ( also if catching the bus give a wave so they stop)

One really doesn't know where to begin with North Lodge and its hosts Iain and Jaspreet. It is without doubt the nicest place with the nicest people in the nicest setting I have ever stayed. This homely couple have the knack of making you feel special to them and they are ever at hand to make your stay memorable. The rooms and house are comfortable and spotless and the surrounding highland air is like a tonic. Your hosts will provide tasty breakfasts and supper as you wish at modest extra cost. I found their excellent internet accessibility most useful and a surprisingly wide range of TV programmes to fill the evenings when required.

Their Grade II listed lodge has its own feel and is set in its own rugged 4 acres site. They are painstakingly landscaping the area immediately to the front of the lodge which will make the view even more stunning. One has access to a well maintained private road through spectacular rhododendron bushes and Douglas firs for a walk that would be the envy of Kew Gardens. I found the easy access to Crieff and its excellent shopping and the sights of the beautiful county of Perthsire all to hand a bonus.

This is one of those hidden gems which, if one was selfish, one would keep to oneself and not tell the world, but then so many people would lose the chance to meet Iain and Jaspreet and visit their lovely home. If you love scenery, walking and a truly memorable place to stay then do take time to visit North Lodge.
