Staying at Olga's house was really great, the appartement is clean, big and well located! Everything you need is a few minutes walking from home and the metro station to go to the city center is less than one minute walk.
Olga and her daughter are very nice and helpful, it was a real pleasure to stay there!
Olga is a friendly and helpful host though I didn't see much of her. The apartment is comfortable and clean. It's located a little out of town but less than 2 minutes to the metro station which takes about 15 minutes into the centre. Horta itself is nice, I was there to witness a local fiesta with bands, musketeers shooting very loud muskets and beer-crate-tower climbing competitions! The local tapas bar was really nice too. She also has two mischievous kittens that are very playful and inquisitive.
Great stay very nice person always checked to make sure I was fine. Shes lives in a right down the street from a variety of stores and restaurants the Ice cream shop by her apartment is really good too.! Super easy to get into town from her place since it's a minute walk from her apartment to the metro station. If you prefer to take a bus you can walk around the corner and find many bus stops. Worth the price for sure.
Living with Olga was a fantastic experience! She was very kind and always went out of her way to make me feel welcome in my new home. She was constantly telling me nice restaraunts, beaches, bars, and other activities to do around town. She also offers to do your laundry once a week, and cooks upon your request. In fact, one of the best things about living with Olga is her cooking (I even got a few of her recipes to take home with me)! She used to own her own restaraunt, so every meal was delicious and she always offers all the food you can eat. Having quality meals provided for you is something that none of my other friends staying with host families managed to find. Although Horta isn't in the city center, Olga's front door is literally a 30 second walk to the metro station, so I never had any problems meeting up with my friends who lived in the city center. The metro is very efficient and usually only takes between 15-20 min to get to the city center. The plaza where Olga lives is also a really nice place that has tons of restaraunts right out of the front door and also has a grocery store about 5 mins away by walking. Unlike the city center where many of my friends lived, Horta is a very safe place, and I never ran into any trouble when coming home in the early hours of the morning, but many of my friends who lived in the city center were pickpocketed and one group was even mugged when walking home late at night. When I return to Barcelona I will definitely live with Olga again and strongly recommend it for anyone traveling to Barcelona!
