We are a family of 4 members although we currently only live in Madrid three, because our daughter is working as a nurse in another city (Huesca). We are Isabel, Michel and Lucas who is 22 years old and is studying Physiotherapy at the University. We live in the known Green Hall located next to the river Manzanares in the district of Latina, central zone of Madrid. We are 12'andando from the Puerta del Sol and the Plaza Mayor, neuralgic centers of the city. Thus, we enjoy the tranquility and sports possibilities of the Green Hall built along the river and at the same time we are close to the center of Madrid in the heart of La Latina with its streets full of terraces, cafes and restaurants. The area is very quiet and safe.

About the Area

Our house is located next to the Hall Green recently built along the Manzanares River. Very close to the football stadium of Atletico Madrid, champions league in Spain. We are 10'andando from Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor. Located in the District of Arganzuela-America, and enjoyed the quiet sport and leisure opportunities offered by the Green Corridor and also the atmosphere of the Latin with its cafes, terraces, restaurants, bars and multiculturalism. It is a very safe and nice area to live. We are part of an urbanization of three blocks of buildings with an interior common area to relax or read quietly. We have several bus lines next to the front door and the nearest Metro stations are Pyramids and Puerta de Toledo. Both are practically at the same distance: 300 meters.

Really kind family ! I felt secure and good integrated. They helped me with everything I asked.
Cozy room in a nice and very clean flat. The House is in a quiet and safe area, only a few steps away from Puerta de Toledo and the city center.
I would absolutely recommend this homestay.

I really enjoyed staying with Michel and his family. They made me feel right at home from the moment I arrived at the airport until I left. I recommend adding dinners to your stay because they are delicious and it is great to talk with them and learn more Spanish. A great location in the city with public transport close by. I would highly recommend staying with Michel and his family!

My stay with Michel and family was outstanding and exactly what I was looking for. This was my first homestay experience, and in the beginning I felt slightly nervous about staying in another persons home. However Michel and Isabel made me feel right at home. I also highly recommend purchasing dinner for your stay. It is very affordable and delicious. Can't recommend this homestay enough to anyone who is looking for a place to stay in Madrid.

[for reference, I am a 21 year old male who studied Spanish since 7th grade in the US but stopped after going to college. I lived with Michel and his family for 5 months while studying Mechanical Engineering at UC3M]. Everything about my stay with Michel and Isabel was exceptional and extraordinary. Besides the fact that they are truly incredible hosts that will do your laundry, feed you delicious dinners (for a small fee) and teach you Spanish, they are always willing to go above and beyond to help you in any other way they can. Even better, this location is perfect for anyone looking for a quick, or long term stay in Madrid. La Latina is a more quiet neighborhood on the outskirts of the city center, but there is a bus that will take you to Plaza Mayor in 15 minutes and a Metro/Renfe Cercanias (short/medium distance trains) train stop less than 1 km away. This means that you can go to anywhere within the city in 20-40 minutes (if you are trying to reach the airport, the train ride takes about 35 minutes). From personal experience, I can tell you that it is INCREDIBLY safe at ALL hours of the early morning to the late night for walking. Even though their flat is located away from the city center and all of the hustle and bustle of Madrid, that also means that it is located away from the American tourists (: ). You can spend your days in the city, and your nights in a neighborhood rich with actual Spanish culture... and I'm sure that like me, you'll actually come to enjoy walking around the neighborhood :) Michel and Isabel do not speak English, but don't let that deter you from staying with them. As I said, I lived with them for 5 months and they both played a large role in making those 5 months the best of my life so far! I learned more Spanish sitting at the dinner table with them that I have in all of my formal Spanish education in a classroom, and I certainly got a better picture of what Spanish living is actually like. I've told Michel to give my contact information to anyone who books a stay with him that would like assistance or advice about how things work in the area for people that are unfamiliar. Don't miss out on an opportunity to stay with Michel and his family, you won't regret it!! Hopefully we'll speak soon!

I stayed for 4 months during a study abroad program. Michel and the family were great and very friendly. They went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and were always responsive to any concerns I had. As an example, Michel went and picked up a package I had sent to me that was held up in customs on the other side of Madrid. Overall a very good experience

This was perfect for me. I didn't know where I was going to live when I came to Madrid and I'm not a fan of hostels. It was wonderful to have a family to 'take care of me' during my first week. They were so nice, the meals were great, the room was great, they gave me advice as I did my apartment hunt, and I was able to practice my Spanish every day. I felt so comfortable. I would definitely recommend them. Wish I didn't have to leave but I do need my own place since I'll be staying for a year.

Michel and Isabel are great people who made me feel right at home during my 3 month stay with them. The atmosphere is amazing and the home-cooked meals are just heavenly (just wait until you taste the famed "Pollo Amado"). The location is very close to the city center (about 10min walk to the "Puerta de Toledo" metro station, bus stop right across the street) and near the river, where you can go for some nice strolls or do some jogging. When I return to Madrid some day, I definitely know where I'll be staying!
