I arrived at Arancha’s house as a stranger & left as a friend. Not only to her, her husband, her sons, but also her whole family. When I booked my 8 week stay, I mentioned to Arancha that I would be attending a language school in the city and that I was coming to learn the language. She said she would certainly help me learn Spanish. And she meant it! Arancha was the perfect host. She was there to welcome me, gave me food and then got on a bus with me & showed me how to get to my language school that I had booked. We then set out for something to eat & that was the start of Arancha using every opportunity to get me to speak Spanish, gently correcting me and encouraging my efforts. She didn’t have to do that. There was lots of things she didn’t have to do, but she did. Like reserving seats for a Flamenco show because I had said that I would like to go. She involved me in almost every aspect of her life. She introduced me to her friends & most of her immediate family. She even invited me to her son Pablo’s grad meal. That was a fabulous night. She constantly helped me with my language. Her husband Antonio taught me how to make fantastic Paella in his cerverceria. He constantly provided amazing food for dinner. The whole family were wonderful. Arancha even shared her Alsatian dog (Rulo) with me. We often walked with Rulo in the local park. A fabulous place. Arancha using this also as an opportunity to learn the language for me. The apartment was exactly as stated. There was always hot water & the shower was strong. There was also another student there who was very young, I’m 60 years old. We all got along very well. Arancha makes you very welcome if you’re a young student or a much more mature student like me. No matter what your age, Arancha will make you very welcome. As will her whole family. If your goal is to improve your Spanish, I can’t think of a better homestay than this family. I was very sad to leave them on my last day. She even texted me later to make sure I got home safe. Even that day Arancha helped with organising a taxi for me, made sure I had breakfast and even offered to give me a lunch for the plane. Like I said, she did a lot of things she didn’t have to. But that’s Arancha and her family. A brilliant stay. I shall return and I highly recommend staying here, whether short of long stay. Thank you Arancha, Antonio, Pepe & Pablo, for everything. You gave me an unforgettable experience of Spain. I am so very grateful to you all.
