    Great host in Thai-only area!!!

I highly recommend Tony & Bor for anyone willing to experience the Thai way of living in a comfortable, clean and safe accommodation.
Located few minutes minibus ride from Bang Chak station (BST), Tony made me feel at home in a foreign country, and provided a deep insight on how to move around in the city. He showed me around on the first day, recommended where and what to eat and warned me on what to avoid. In addition, he also enjoyed sharing time together, and the occasional meal which was very nice and unexpected. I was so happy with my stay that I decided to return when hitting Bangkok again.

If you're looking to get a real hint on Bangkok and Thai culture, and avoid the touristic highways, look no further.

Tony is a cheerful man who is quite passionate and knowledgeable about Thai culture. His wife was away at the time so we didn't meet her. He smoked around our daughter which we didn't enjoy, and we were a little surprised at how much we ended up spending on the tour he takes you for so I would only recommend clarifying the details ahead of time which we didn't do. He is generous with his home including shower towels, letting us use kitchen to cook at home, included bottled water throughout stay, and letting us use washing machine. Basic accomodation but overall good stay for the cost.

    Hi Tonya
    Interesting review.
I wouldn't point out that our site clearly states that smoking is permitted in outside areas i.e. The upstairs balcony and the open fronted garage area and at no time during your stay did I smoke inside the house.
Your comments on our free tour were also not appreciated as I provided my services for free for the day as promised with the only cost benefit to myself being a 60 baht train ticket. The object of the day is to show our guests how to get around the city using various means of transportation.

    Overall the experience was amazing.
Following more details about my stay with Tony .
I stayed with him for 6 days. I decided to go to Thailand pretty spontaneously and so the first night after landing in Bangkok I stayed at another location because the room was still booked for another person. However upon contacting Tony he instantly recommended me a location to stay close by and told me how to efficiently get there.
The next day Tony picked me up at that location and took me to his place. Superb service. I was taught in local customs and culture and rightly made aware of some rules to follow.
The next day he invested time and resources and gave a very knowledgeable induction of Bangkok and how to confidently make it around the city independently. Then I was ready to explore Bangkok on my own.

He also created a binder with tour recommendations catering all tastes. If you have any type of question he kindly answers them.

Interestingly and most importantly he experienced a lot in his life and he has many intriguing stories to tell.

    Putting a long story short, if you are looking for a unique experience and want to immerse yourself into Thai culture and then you intend to explore greater Bangkok by yourself;

Then without any doubt I recommend staying here with him.
The guest stands in the center for him and is not just a business transaction.

Tony met us st the airport as promised and got us a taxi back to his place. The next day he took us for a tour and orientation while showing us how to get around in Bangkok. He even set me up with someone to replace my phone that had been stolen in Africa. Great to have a phone again. Tony was a wealth of information about Bangkok and things to do and always helped us get a cab when needed. The location is in the real Bangkok and we really enjoyed the local street food. The air conditioning in the bedroom was greatly appreciated at the end of a long hot day. We feel the bathroom could have been cleaner, but overall it was a good bargain for the money.

Many thanks folks, it was a pleasure to host you both.
Thanks also for your takeaway that you forgot in the fridge. Delicious meal of fried rice, prawn noodle salad and tom yum goong shared as an introduction to street food with our subsequent guest.
Happy travels and hope you enjoy the rest of your Asian holiday.

Tony was a great host, helped us navigate the city and was kind about our jetlagged baby's cries. The rooms were spacious and the AC was working well. However, the place wasn't exactly clean. The photos make it look squeaky clean but the kitchen, the bathroom and parts of the rooms (not the sheets, thank god) needed a little more love, to say the least.

    Hi Emma
Bit rough with the review. Only time we have ever had a 3 heart review but guess we will just have to leave it with the 22 five heart reviews already on our site (appears to be the odd one out there?)
Regarding cleanliness, the fittings in both rooms were dusted and polished and the floors were swept and mopped the day before your arrival as was the bathroom which was scrubbed with tile cleaner and hosed down.
Can't do much more and difficult to understand what you expect from a homestay in a 50 year old family home.

It was the best start for us in Thailand. Tony picked us up at the airport as promised. He showed us arround and answerd all our questions about thai food, language, habits and so on. We enjoyed spending time with Tony after the day tours he provided us. It's definitely worth staying at his place if you want to chat a bit, stay NOT at Kaosan Rd, and learn a lot about culture!
He traveled through most of Thailand so he is the one to give good tipps for sights or things to do in Bangkok and elsewhere in Thailand.
Thank you so much Tony for hosting and supporting us!

Staying with Tony was the epitome of the homestay experience. He was a helpful, knowledgable, and patient host with a great sense of humour. He picked me up from the airport, helped me get on my feet and taught me everything I needed to know to navigate life in Bangkok. The Tony Tour was a highlight of my stay, which included an unforgettable night in Patpong and shopping at MBK and the Rod Fai night market. Do not hesitate to book a stay with Tony, you won't regret it.

If you're looking for a good homestay look no further, Tony's guesthouse is the very best. As a firstime solo traveller (28 yr old) it was a daunting idea to just "wing it" when arriving at the Bangkok airport. Tony came and picked me up, made me settle right it. He goes above and beyond to make sure you are all good and well. He took me to see the Bangkok nightlife (never going to forget this night in my life) and the day after provided an amazing tour of several great sights not known to most tourists, this while explaining the neccecities to get around. We also just chilled and watched movies. I could not have wished for a better start of my journey. Tony I am forever grateful for your time and hospitality! I might bend my itinerary to visit once more.
