Newtau Drum Home is situated in a peaceful farming village near Samoeng, 80km north-west of the Chiang Mai city.
Newtau village lies in a beautiful valley surrounded by fields of peanuts, garlic, beans and, in the raining season, rice. Behind the fields are mountains covered by a natural forest, with over 300 different kinds of trees.
This is where you can experience real Thai people's life. We are far from tourist attractions, have a small number of expats who have settled here and all the locals know each other.
We are a Thai German family with two kids, Woo and Aod, and my mother, Ikeao.
I grew up in Newtau Village and know all about Thai Lanna culture. I make lots of traditional handcrafts and know about traditional farming and cooking.
My German husband moved to Thailand about 6 years ago. His hobbies are handcraft and he builds drums, didgeridoos and traditional art sculptures. He is also very spiritual and practices Shamanism and works with Nature Devas.
