Staying with Mohamed was a terrible experience, one that completely turned my off from Tunisia entirely. First, he raised the price by 50% without telling me beforehand, and he used an improper exchange rate to charge me an additional 25 dinars more than I should have paid. He didn't tell me about this ahead of time or give me the option of paying the originally agreed upon rate. Second, the facilities were disgraceful. The description below says that the room will contain: "TV, radio, desk, phone, internet access, mini-bar, fridge, air-conditioning, mirror and wardrobe." The only thing of those that was available to me was a desk. Most notably missing were air conditioning and internet access (and hot water in the "private" bathroom, which was actually not at all private). The place was so terribly hot, with plenty of insects inside. Third, Mohamed was a terrible host. He didn't seem to care very much about what I wanted to do, but rather used my stay as a way for him to do things he wanted to do otherwise. This is exemplified by the day I spent vomiting and in bed that he spent going to the beach (making me pay 20 dinars for transportation). I would NOT recommend staying with Mohamed to anyone, and I would strongly consider him to reevaluate the way he runs this homestay service. He constantly talked about this like it is some kind of business, but he runs it very poorly and doesn't seem to care much about his customers. My experience was so bad that I canceled the rest of my stay in Tunisia and booked a ticket home to the US immediately.
