Gosport is a town on the sunny south coast just across from the Harbor at Portsmouth with easy access via a mini cruse on the local ferry. It is a peninsular with 3 sides coast and as such it has some spectacular views. There are lovely coastal walks and a popular one is the walk from the Victorian fort at Brockhurst along the coast for the most part and on to the town center. This walk passes the Jolly Roger public house situated on the coast over looking the sea at Priddys Hard. They have fine ales and serve food of an average standard. as you continue on your walk you will pass though the grounds of the Explosion Museum which is the home of the fleet armaments. There is a tea shop at the back of the museum which has public access, again it over looks the coast with a good view of the commercial port in Portsmouth which is a very busy port and has plenty of ships coming in and out throughout the day. Once though these lovely grounds you will cross the Millennium Bridge and have a clear view of the fleets new aircraft carrier, HMS Queen Elizabeth and various other ships of the fleet depending on deployment. Going a little further on you will come to Clarence yard which was once all MOD land and property, it was also Queen Victoria's favorite stop to get across to Osborne House on the Isle of Wight.. Clarence yard has a couple of places to stop for food and Arty's is one of the best. There is also the old fleet bakery complete with ovens which is now a public house. Sitting out side on a sunny clear day you will have a view of HMS Queen Elizabeth on one side and HMS Victory on the other. Once refreshed you Journey continues towards the town via Weevil Lane passing the old army barracks. Gosport is steeped in Naval history and once in town it is a short walk to the Submarine museum at HMS Dolphin where you can go on a real submarine for a tour. .

We arrived at 10pm. She was already sleeping. In the morning, noise at 6.30am and a quick hello. No smile from her and the impression she wanted us to leave quickly. At our departure, a quick goodbye behind the door.
We slept very well and the room and bathroom were clean.

I stayed at Edwinas house on the recommendation of a close friend who had stayed with her before. It was clean, tidy and welcoming and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to other friends. I had a pleasant cup of tea on my arrival and Edwina told me about the local area and some history of Gosport.

I couldn’t meet a better, nicer host. Edwina was very knowledgable about the local area and provided excellent information about where to go to eat and interesting places to visit. I only stayed one night in a well presented and very clean room. The bed was extremely comfortable to the point of being luxurious. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Edwina’s room and will be staying with her again in the near future.

I. R. abends. Man will auch mal ausruhen.
    Edith

As you can read from Edith's review nothing i did was enough.. a totally demanding guest.. throughout her i stay i did all i could to meet her continuing demands.. she has free use of my bicycle for the whole 4 weeks..my son had to come round more than once to deal with bike issues for her.. no thank you.. i helped up and down with her heavy case.. no thank you.. she was made very welcome and given her space..but seriously she expected me to do her washing up.. i note her biggest complaint was not getting free English lessons, sorry but i got a busy life.. i only saw Edith in the evenings and early mornings.. the mornings getting ready for both of us to go out and the evenings i am tired.. on her first day here i spent the morning walking Edith to town showing her the great views.. and the only English i got was it was too far.. when it was sunny it was too hot, when not sunny it was too cold.. sorry life is too short to be moaning so hence i will continue no more.. i will add Edith was a quiet guest and clean..

Edwina is attentive and keeps the place clean and quiet, kitchen is well stocked with tea and she makes a tasty bread pudding. She didn't seem to mind I left curry chicken leftovers for two days in her fridge! (It makes a surprisingly good breakfast.)
