About the Homestay
Welcome to our home. Myself and my husband Alan love welcoming international guests to our fantastic capital city and to our home which is in a quiet, friendly street in Streatham South London with our 2 cats Sammy and Jack.
I work for 2 charities helping refugees and asylum seekers and Alan runs his own business managing nature reserves in London. Sammy and Jack are typical cats so just relax all day!

This was the second part of the stay I had already booked. One of the most relayed stays I have ever had for a long time. Helen and Alan are so kind and welcoming and their two cats are just delightful, so happy to be able to spend time in their company. They even let me in their house while they were away for a few days which was absolutely incredible but this is only because I keep coming back and we became friends over time. I truly appreciate this and was grateful they trust me this much. Already looking forward to coming back :)
I had another stay with Helen already booked but had to change my flight so had to add a few more nights to the stay and Helen was so kind to let me stay at her house again. It's a great feeling to come back to the familiar place and feel like home again.
Just super lovely people, I always love coming back and staying with Helen and Alan and their cats. The whole area is safe and quiet but you are still about 20minutes away from the centre of London which is pretty amazing. Home away from home for sure and it makes me so happy to be able to come back whenever I can
I just love staying with Helen and Alan and their two cats. Home away from home. It's great to stay at a familiar place with these friendly people who make you feel comfortable and are so kind and helpful whenever you need anything
Helen and Alan were great hosts, very friendly and helpful. They made us feel very welcome. The breakfast table was well stocked every morning, the room was big and quiet at night, we could come and go as we pleased... everything was great. On Sunday evening they had some friends over because of Helens birthday and we had a lovely chat and a glass of wine with all of them. There was a bit of renovation going on in the house during our stay, so it wasn't too tidy, but I didn't mind. It's their home and not a hotel after all. I would definitely recommend this kind of stay to everyone.
Helen is the kindest person on Earth. She let me kept the key to the house while I was away in another city for a few days but I knew I will be coming back. Her trust means a lot and it makes me so happy we became friends since I have been coming back for some time now. And what a wonderful feeling it is to know that next time I find myself in London I could stay with this amazing persoin in my London home :)
My London home. What else can I say? Love coming back, always feel very welcome and truly at home. I often feel bad when I come for only one night but I always know I will be back, be it sooner or later.
I keep coming back to Helen's place for some time now and I love it every time. Not only because Helen is such a sweet and welcoming person and I love the fact we keep getting to know each other better and better but the two cats are a fantastic company as well (i'm a huge cat lover) and it's always a joy to come back.
Helene et Alan are warm and caring hosts, we think them for their hospitality and their openness. We have appreciated the nice bright room, the art deco-inspired bathroom and the cats of course ! The house is being renovated it is not a problem for us ... it will be even more beautiful ! The neighborhood is well served by transport (we have discovered Brixton for instance - located half an hour by bus - good place for shopping in TK Maxx or in the electric avenue market).
Undeniably one of my best homestay experiences. Helen and Alan generously offer a beautiful room in their spacious and comfortable home, and they are admirable guests as well, always ready to help, and to give advice on how to navigate the area among others, and time spent with them always being time well-spent!
In addition, though, another strong reason to prefer this homestay again in the future is that their two lovely black cats, Jack and Sammy, are always up for cuddles and keep you excellent company while purring and slow-blinking at you! :)
This is a "home away from home"...
