We offer very comfortable and cozy single & double attic bedrooms with self-serve breakfast in a Victorian Tyneside terraced house in Heaton, within walking distance of Newcastle city centre and quayside. Tea/coffee making facilities, towels, shampoo, etc. all provided.
We expect our guests to be dog-friendly, although our dog doesn't go up to the attic or into guest bedrooms; she is shy but very friendly and likes attention!
Check-in time should be agreed after confirmation, but I'm usually available between 4-9pm. Check-out is before 11am.
When you confirm your booking, we'll send you a welcome pack with lots of details regarding transport and how best to get around, where to visit, etc. Most can be done on foot as we are quite central. If you have a particular area you need to get to, we're happy to find the best route for you.
Included will also be our invoice for the remaining rent. Half of which will be required 2-weeks before your date of arrival.

About the Area
It is a family home in a popular student area, with plenty of pubs, shops and cafes, buses, metros, bikes and taxis. There are lovely parks for walking, running, cycling or lazing in, a city farm and plenty of art galleries on our doorstep too. We're on a good bus route and have lots of local conveniences all within walking distance.

Meals
Hosts can offer a complimentary light breakfast at their discretion. All other meals, including a full breakfast, might incur an additional cost, if offered. Meals and any additional payment should be arranged directly with your host.

House Rules
We’ll give you a front door key so you can come and go as you please. If we’re not around at the end of your stay, leave key on the kitchen table so we know the room’s vacated and ready for cleaning, and have a safe trip onwards.
Please come and go as you wish, join us or retire to your room, it's up to you.
So we can best accommodate your stay with us, when booking or enquiring, please tell us the purpose of your visit and what sort of time you'll be spending in and out of the house, and any particular places you need to get to.
We will ask for 20% to be paid in advance of check-in since Homestay don't compensate hosts for cancellations, and they keep your deposit!

A long weekend stay for 3 nights. Ema a great host. Stayed in the quirky attic bedroom with an amazing comfortable bed. Close to Heaton & Alexander parks, Jesmond Dene. Just outside the city centre but was close enough for me to walk to the start of the Great North Run and back after the finish as advised by Ema. She was right, the queues for the Metro were so long. Anything you want to know ask Ema, she’s so knowledgeable.

Ema is really an attentive guest. Children loved her and were very happy to talk about their daily adventure in Newcastle. It will stand a very nice memory for the three of us. Thank you again for everything.

Adeline and her children were the perfect guests, clean, tidy and well behaved. Their English was excellent and I enjoyed hearing about their day in the evenings. I wouldn't hesitate to welcome them back in the future.

Nice play to stay and to rest! Ema is a very nice person! If i´ll return to Newcastle i would love to stay there again!

The stairs a little too steep and the advert should show a shower and not a bath because that's what guests use and its downstairs. I felt a little awkward having to ask to use a bath tub because I don't use a shower so I think guests should know before they book. Otherwise, Ema is a lovely guest and the bed was comfortable.

Hi Glory, I'm so sorry you missed the description and weren't aware you would be staying in an attic. We do try to list as accurately as possible and yes the attic stairs are steep in an old Victorian house. You are right of course, about including the bathroom photo (now removed). As per the description and the info you were sent, guests have sole use of the shower room. It was lovely to meet you and hope the stairs weren't too much of an inconvenience as to ruin your visit. How do I book?
Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.
When can I share my contact details?
Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
