A perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life and escape to the countryside by the coast. Need a break? Writer's retreat?
I'm Cathy, a mother and teacher and you would be staying with myself and my eldest son, Will. We're here to help you get the most out of your stay. There's always laughter at home and we aim to be as happy as possible. The home is clean and cosy; warm in the winter, cool in the summer, with a south-facing courtyard garden that traps the summer sun. A light breakfast is provided as standard with your stay with us.
Your room has two windows to help keep you cool on warm summer evenings, whilst double glazing keeps you warm and cosy on those cold winter nights. There's a 55" 4K flat-screen television with Freeview and access to Netflix and Amazon Prime streaming services. We have high-speed fibre-optic broadband for keeping in touch with home or enjoying the latest blockbuster.
We have two cats; Tango and Sammy, and a Belgian Shepherd (Malinois) dog called Bear. All three love affection, particularly Bear, who also loves to play or snuggle up with you on the sofa. I'm a teacher, working at a school 200m away. I enjoy swimming, reading, travelling, watching films and spending time with friends. Will has recently completed his MSc in Criminal Psychology and Intelligence, and enjoys reading, films and television. He teaches English to students during the summer months.
For younger guests, both my son and I maintain current, enhanced Disclosure and Baring Service checks, and we both also hold NSPCC Safeguarding certificates.
We've always enjoyed welcoming people to our home to share our culture, and enjoy learning from people of other cultures. Our home is your home, and we'll welcome guests all year round! If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

About the Area
Located on the edge of the countryside, a ten minute (1.5km) walk to three beaches. Very peaceful location with beautiful views of the Kentish countryside, and seven European Blue Flag beaches within 10km. We have bars, restaurants, a cinema and shops, as well as arguably the best fish and chip shop around!
Westgate railway station services trains to and from London Victoria and is a five minute walk (700m away) due north, whilst nearby bus stops (500m away) accomodate National Express and local buses to tour the area. London is 90 minutes away by train.
Dreamland amusement park is 4km to the east, and easily reached by train or bus. Within the area, we also have Margate's Turner Contemporary art gallery, Margate Old Town, three cinemas, mini-golf, swimming pools and gyms, a number of museums including the Royal Air Force, and Spitfire and Hurricaine Museums, which explore World War Two. Slightly further afield there's the beautiful town of Sandwich with its old buildings, Walmer and Deal Castles, and Dover Castle and World War Two tunnel experience.

Cathy and her son have been very lovely hosts. I felt like almost being part of the family. I got a lovely breakfast and a very delicious supper. The room was nice. I watched even once Netflix and Amazon Prime. I could sleep very well. The 2 cats Tango and Samy have been lovely mates to me as well. Will definitely go there again and I can recommend them absolutely. They have a great knowledge of the area #Thane-Island. xxNatasha
How do I book?
Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.
When can I share my contact details?
Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
