Our 4 bedroomed detached house is in a quiet street in the pretty village, Stamford Bridge, which has plenty of local amenities and is just 8 miles from York and on a good bus route to the city.
I teach at a York primary school and my youngest son, who is 23 and works in the village, also lives with me. We have one very friendly cat called Monty!
The room available is a king size bed with the use of the adjacent family bathroom that has a jacuzzi bath and power shower. There is a lounge/dining room, large kitchen, utility room, downstairs cloakroom, conservatory, pleasant garden, garage and driveway.
Our main language is English and I speak a little French. My hobbies are playing tennis in the village, going to the gym and reading, whereas my son enjoys music and produces his own music in many different styles.

About the Area
Our house is located in a quiet cul-de-sac, which is a 3 minute walk from the nearest bus stop and a 5 minute walk into the village centre. There is a small supermarket, chemists, butchers, several cafes, pubs and a doctors surgery.
The number 10 bus into York takes around 35 minutes to the city centre and continues into the late evening.

House Rules
We are a friendly household but there have to be some rules! Here are the important ones!
House guests must be free of any unspent criminal convictions and with no history of bankruptcy, due to my home insurance policy.
The house guest must leave shared areas in the same state as they found them. They will be expected to be considerate to us in terms of being quiet after 10pm on a week night and come in quietly if they are out later. You are welcome to use the conservatory for phone calls, prayer etc. between 10pm and 8am.
Take care of yourself as you use the house and facilities as we will not be held liable for your actions or accidents! Any damage will need to be paid for.
An information booklet will be available in your room.
Please pay a deposit when you book and the balance by paypal before arrival or cash when you arrive. I might ask for you to show some photo ID when you arrive.

Diane has an incredibly lovely family. I loved every bit of my stay with her, Gareth and her sons. She is so hospitable and sociable. The fact that she was always smiling made me realize how welcoming she is. Both her and Gareth were very kind and offered me a lift to York. I strongly recommend anyone coming to York or its surroundings to book with Diane.
How do I book?
Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) and a 25% deposit using a choice of payments: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal. The deposit is collected in advance on behalf of the host to protect against no show or late cancellations (within 7 days of arrival). You then pay your host the balance due on arrival. The 25% deposit payment is made to the host 2 business days after your scheduled arrival date. This deposit payment will only be refunded if you cancel the booking at least 7 full days prior to arrival.
When can I share my contact details?
Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
