Our house is located in York city centre and very near the River Ouse.
It is over 500 years old and has large living room ,upstairs is a shared bath/shower room and extra washroom with toilet, sink etc. Another staircase leads to 1 twin room for guests. A large dining kitchen with access to safe outside areas - small enclosed courtyard leading to small garden area leading to large paved area with monument. Then there is All Saints Church - the first reference to a church of All Saints in North Street is in 1089 - http://allsaints-northstreet.org.uk/index.html. The church is visible from the guest bedroom and is illuminated at night.
The bus station is 60 metres to the left and the river and a small park 50 metres to the right - the railway station is 5 minutes walk from the house.
There are clubs and pubs very close to the front of the house so the noise can go on into the early hours but the room is at the rear of the house and has secondary glazing so is reasonably quiet. We sleep in the main front bedroom and do not have a problem but we are used to it!
We are a "mature" couple with a modern outlook, enjoy interacting with younger people and keep pace with modern technology.
It must be pointed out that the house would be unsuitable for anyone with a mobility disability as the stairs are narrow and steep.

Carole and Andrew were excellent hosts. The room was great and the distance to the train station and coach stops was excellent.

I wish I could say that me and my mother enjoyed this Homestay experience but I would be lying...Yes the location was convenient with a short walk to the centre of York but being locked out and having no key to access our belongings each day from 10am to 5pm (rain, hail or shine) was very inconvenient...

Can't believe her review - it is bed and breakfast not a hotel and we always say if you need to come back during the day just ring or text and we will come back to the house if possible! For obvious reasons we do not give keys to strangers. No complaints were made while she was here and no request for keys!

I really enjoyed my weekend at Carole and Andrew's! The house was incredibly beautiful and they provided everything one might need. They were also the warmest loveliest people, and we had some great conversations! I would recommend staying with them to everybody and hope to go back some day myself!

Carole was a wonderful host, nothing was too much trouble. I was very appreciative as this was my first stay in York using homestay but it won't be my last, already thinking of making arrangements to stay with carole again. Home is in an ideal location only five minutes from rail station.

How do I book?

Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.

When do I pay?

Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 199 $£€ for longer term bookings) and a 25% deposit using a choice of payments: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal. The deposit is collected in advance on behalf of the host to protect against no show or late cancellations (within 7 days of arrival). You then pay your host the balance due on arrival. The 25% deposit payment is made to the host 2 business days after your scheduled arrival date. This deposit payment will only be refunded if you cancel the booking at least 7 full days prior to arrival.

When can I share my contact details?

Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
