Hello! My name is Kim. I work for a child advocacy organization whose mission is to be an effective voice for children. When I’m not working, I like to spend time with my family and friends. I am learning Spanish. Estoy aprendiendo español. And I love spending time in my garden. I live in a beautiful, grand victorian house and I share my home with my cat.

I live in a great residential neighborhood. Many of my neighbors know each other and there is a strong sense of community. As a way to build community and stay connected, my neighbors and I sponsor annual Easter Egg Hunts, Harvest and Trick or Treat Walks, Christmas Caroling, and other community events. There are beautiful parks and playgrounds and three supermarkets nearby, including the brand new Tropical Foods, which features specialty items from the Caribbean and other parts of the world. The public library, YMCA, and Roxbury Boys and Girls Club are all within walking distance.

There are also great restaurants close by like Merengue, Haley House Bakery Cafe, Dudley Dough, Tasty Burger, Dudley Cafe, and Flames, as well as Hubway and Zipcar (bike and car sharing programs). The Museum of Fine Arts, Northeastern University, Wentworth Institute of Technology, Mass College of Art and Design, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Simmons College, Emmanuel College, Roxbury Community College, Harvard Medical School, and the Longwood Medical Area are all easily accessible. Downtown is only a ten minute drive away. Additionally, I live very close to public transportation, so getting around is very easy.

Additional Info

Estoy aprendiendo español. Last year I hosted a graduate student from Mexico for six months. It was my very first time hosting and it was a very rewarding experience. Since then I’ve had guests from all over the world, including Spain, China, and Indonesia. Hosting provides a great opportunity for a mutually beneficial cultural exchange. Bienvenido!

About the Area

My neighborhood is rich with arts, history, and culture. Centrally located, it is the heart of the city. It is very convenient in terms of its proximity to Downtown Boston, other neighborhoods like the South End, Jamaica Plain, and the airport via the expressway. I am also very close to several colleges. My house is just 2 minutes to several buses and just blocks from a major transportation hub.
