It was my first time in the United States (I moved to Boston for a new job) and I was a single young woman. I booked a room at John's house. It is the best choice that I have ever made. The room and the house were very nice and so clean. The area was very safe and the house was in a very nice neighborhood.
There was everything I needed there for breakfast and also free bottles of water every day. Everything was there to make my stay pleasant. John was always available, very helpful and ready to provide a lot of advice about the area as well as places to eat or visit. Now, I'm living in Boston and, for sure, I can say that John's house is probably one of the best places in Cambridge/Boston, if not the best!
John is very hospitable. Conditions and house are very good. Close to center .
John was an excellent host and made our stay in Boston really enjoyable. His home is lovely and clean and the provided breakfast was a real bonus. John gave us recommendations for visits and transport and his home was in a great location for everything we wanted in and around Boston! Would recommend!
It was so fantastic! The host, John was very nice and welcomed. Rooms were same as pictures. It was so clean as well. We could eat breakfast as we want such as muffin, cereal, milk and coffee. Whenever we want we can take a bottle of water or soda. Host was so kind that we can ask something about the city. I truely recommend this homestay house.
John was simply a fantastic host, I stayed 7 nights with John, and I wished it could have been for longer! This was my first homestay experience but John made me feel right at home! I have to say he was very friendly and welcoming, my bags were brought up to my room when I arrived and John showed me around his house. It was very clean throughout and was very cosy! My bedroom was very comfortable, I arrived on a particularly hot day but John already had the air con on for me,so the room was nice and cool!. John provided delicious muffins, bagels, coffee and fruit in the mornings, so I had a great start to each day I spent in Boston! There was soda and water in the fridge everyday for guests so I was never thirsty!! Towels were provided for the shower,(which was very clean too) John also provided me with great tips and advice on sports and travelling around Boston, I was delighted to see the Red Sox play and thanks to Johns advice I got great seats and getting there was no problem! At night time I was able to relax and watch NFL with John, he explained the game to me which was very interesting and made the experience even more enjoyable. If you love Boston and sports, then John is the guy to stay with! John's house is just 10 minutes from the subway so getting around and seeing the city isn't a problem! John provided me with a key so I was able to come and go as I pleased! Any advice or any questions I had for John, he was only happy to help! John looked after me very well, I can't thank him enough! I had an awesome week in Cambridge with John, I would absolutely stay again!! Thank you John!!
We stayed 3 days with John. It was a very nice experience. John is very warm, welcoming, well mannered, he gives all the information we need and does his best to make you feel at home. He provides free bottles of water and cans of soft drinks at anytime.
The house was super clean, in a very quiet neighborhood.
The only thing we missed : a hair dryer
I had a wonderful experience staying in this house. Definitely got more than the value for my money. The house was super clean, neighborhood very peaceful and secure, the host was very warm, humane, welcoming, well mannered and highly courteous. Provided excellent facilities to make our stay highly enjoyable. The house is centrally located and easily accessible. I will definitely go back there as many times as I need accommodation in Boston.
John and Karen are very nice. John is extremely friendly and very helpful. The house is really nice and very clean and is located in a calm and very safe neighborhood. It is very easy to go to Boston with the green line because it is really close and Harvard University is only a few blocks away. John, who is extremely respectful, always does his best to make you feel at home. Breakfast is good too. You can have coffee, milk, bagels and cereals. You can also have free bottles of water and cans of soft drinks at anytime. I highly recommend John and his house. I travel a lot and this is really the place to be when you travel. I give him 5 stars because I cannot put more than 5 but he truly deserves 6 stars.
Very clean and comfortable housing. Very kind hosting. Perfectly located for visiting Harvard or MIT.
Friendly host and very clean house in a safe and quiet neighborhood. The matrass is comfy, but the sheets were polyester, I would recommend to switch to 100% cotton sheets as they provide more comfort.
The kitchen has some breakfast snacks which feels very welcoming.
The shower is hot and provides plenty of water, and clean and soft towels are available for guests. With regard to the lay out of the bathroom facilities, the toilet and shower are next to the kitchen, so in order to get there from the sleeping room you have to walk through the living room and kitchen.
Harvard and MIT are on a walking distance, 1 mile or so. There is no direct connection to downtown Boston available by public transport, as you would have to take bus 69 and then change at Lechmere st. I'm used to getting around by bike so I took the shared bike system to go to Boston(you can even bike to the convention centre). The nearest station does run out of bikes during the morning, and by the end of the day there may be no empty docks left, keep that in mind if you want to go this way.
Booking a hotel on short notice can be very expensive and I was happy to stay here as it provided me with a much better value for money in a clean and safe environment. I encourage John and Karen to continue with their Homestay as it really is a comfortable place to stay!
