About the Area

Mid-City is a neighborhood in Central Los Angeles, California near Culver City & Miracle Mile. It's smack dab in the center of Los Angeles hence the name.

Attractions include La Brea Tar Pits & Museum, the Insta-famous "Urban Light" installation by Chris Burden, restaurants and a post office named for singer Ray Charles, who had his recording studio in Mid-City. The neighborhood hosts eleven public and private schools.

The city's hub: Almost anywhere you work in L.A., you're a relatively short drive away (except the Valley — sorry!). There also are two Expo Line stations with parking lots nearby for those who are looking for an easier commute.
A diner's delight: Chicken and waffles at Roscoe's. Injera and doro wot in Little Ethiopia. Proximity to Pico Boulevard, one of L.A.'s best streets for foodies.
Home of the classics: For those who love those classic L.A. residential styles from the decades before World War II — from Arts and Crafts to Spanish Colonial Revival — you'll find them all here.

House Rules

What's the catch? There is none. But I do have some basic rules:

RULES:
Be Courteous - Be considerate of your actions, behaviour and noise with respect to the neighbors and those whom share the block. Noise travels.

Be Helpful - Any packages or mail please bring indoors. If you see a plant in need of watering, please look after it or call if you're not sure what to do.

WIFI: WIFI Name "1852 Back House" Passcode: "september3rd"

Noise - Back Patio Noise or Music before 9am and after 9:00pm is not allowed. Additionally, if it’s late or early, shuffle your feet and gently open/close doors and gates so tenants in front house can rest. It's all about consideration.

If you see something you would like (food that is not yours, and iphone charger, etc.) please do not steal it. Just ask. I’m happy to share.

Electricity - Turn off lights, fans, appliances when not in use.

Kitchen & Food - Be clean. Do not cook meat in the house as the oils stink up the place and permanently stain the walls and furniture. Please clean your dishes, the floor, and pick up after yourself as to not attract pests or invite rodents into the apartment. If you are going to eat on the couch or bed, please be mindful of the bed spreads and sheets as many are original one of a kinda Oaxacan hand sewn pieces. If you ruin them they are irreplaceable. If you would like to schedule additional house cleaning, please let me know and it can be arranged.

Restroom - There is only 1, and considering California is in a drought, please protect our environment by being breif. Please shower and dry off in a way that does not get water all over the floor. Extra towels are located in the closet.

Trash/Recycle - Recycling is mandatory, otherwise I can be fined. In the house, all metal glass paper and plastic recyclables in the white bin, trash in the black bin. Outside, recycleables go in the blue bin, trash in the black bin. Trash night is on Thursday if you care to bring the bins to the curb but not your responsibility.

Laundry - Facilities are 4 houses down at Lucy’s Laundromat at 1882 S Redondo Blvd. This is a full size laundry facility.

Smoking - This is a NON-Smoking Property. Do not smoke in the front stoop, do not smoke in the backyard. If you need to smoke, please leave the property and do so elsewhere. No Drugs, No Excessive Drinking. Period.

Extra guests - Your friends and family are welcome here of course. However if you're going to have someone stay the night in addition to two people allowed, please let me know so there are no surprises to me or other guests. Additionally, the rate is around $50/night extra per person so I will ask that payment be made as well.

Parking - Street parking is plentiful weekdays and usually nights. Weekends can be tricky. But please check signs to make sure you dont get a ticket during street cleaning mornings. Street Cleaning on the East side of Redondo is on Monday mornings at 8am and on the West side of the street on Tuesday mornings at 8am. Tickets are approx $75.00.

Backyard - Please enjoy the yard and clean up behind yourself. The neighbors have asked No party noise, or loud conversation before 8am or after 10pm so they can rest. You may use the fire pit however you must provide your own wood or replace what you use. Keep fires small to avoid burning down yard.

Security / Safety. Los Angeles is a safe city but common sense is required. Always lock windows and doors before you go and never leave your belongings in the yard. Please close the gate upon your departure.

Smoking Rules

Your host is a non-smoker.

Smoking is not allowed.

How do I book?

Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.

Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.

When can I share my contact details?

Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
