If you've always dreamed of a big (really big!) old house with soaring ceilings, fireplaces in nearly every room, pocket doors, a grand staircase, clawfoot tub, stained glass windows, and hardwood floors for days, you're home. Our Gothic style 1890 home presides over a corner of Old Louisville, overlooking downtown to the north and a historic church to the south.

Over 3300 square feet on the first two floors starts with a beautiful foyer complete with one of the eight fireplaces in the house. No, none of these original coal-burning fireplaces work, but it's still pretty amazing. A big living room with stained glass window, chandelier, and fireplace is a surprisingly cozy place (for a room with 11 foot ceilings!) to settle in with a drink. Through the pocket doors find the light-filled dining room, with a gorgeous fireplace, and a gothic style antique table under a crystal chandelier.

The kitchen features another fireplace plus a stainless pro-style gas range but the real star is a zinc-topped island built of reclaimed Kentucky woods.

Through the hall find the bar, which will be stocked on the honor system (there will be bourbon!), and the downstairs bath with 1920s six-foot soaking clawfoot tub. Also downstairs is a study with access to the courtyard. (There's a carriage house out back that we rent.)

Up the staircase find four rooms including the guest room, which has a super comfortable king sized bed. You're welcome to use the bathroom on this floor and we will use the one on the first floor.

Out back is a private courtyard, with patio seating and a gas grill.

Important things to note:
You MUST love dogs. We have two: Truffle is a senior Pomeranian who will love you immediately. Cassius is a very large puppy who will also love you. He's in the midst of intensive training to become a therapy dog.

We are *in* the city, on a corner. There's a stop light and traffic and a beautiful historic church across the street. Bells start at 7 a.m.

We have central air, but it's not awesome on the second floor in your bedroom, so you can supplement with the window unit air conditioner.

Your room adjoins a small library which you are free to relax in.

About us:
I (Dana) am a freelance food and travel writer. Brian is a full time student. We love travel, bourbon, and adventure, and when we can't be traveling the next best thing is to host guests from around the world. We love to talk travel, and also love to help guests make the most of their time in Louisville and bourbon country. Since I make my living writing, often about Louisville's food and drink scene, I can give you lots of tips for your stay!
