About the Homestay
We live in a community of 100 year old private homes originally built as one of the first suburbs of New York City. It is a Victorian style house less than 1 block from the subway, about a 20 minute ride to Mid-Town Manhattan. We have 2 sons, one who just received his Masters and another who is an actor. We also have 2 dogs named Meek and Timid. We have been hosting students from around the world who come to study English in NY for about 4 1/2 years.
We have a large eat in kitchen and a pretty untamed backyard as well as a front porch where you can watch the neighborhood walk by. We are about a 10 minute walk to Prospect Park which was designed by the same team that designed its more famous sister Central Park.
We provide sheets and towels so you don't have to fill your suitcases with that. While we are fine with you using the microwave and putting 1 or 2 items in the refrigerator we do not share the kitchen.
The prices listed are our winter prices; we charge a little more in the summer because we have much more demand. The price for T's room remains the same all year. Because I don't know how to note this on the price chart here please contact me if you want to come between March and September and we can talk about the pricing.
We have been providing Homestays for a couple of years and have enjoyed great relationships with our guests. Here is a comment from a woman whose teenage son and friend stayed with us:
Dear Judith, Recently you had my son, Lucas, and his friend Marc, hosting at your home. I would like to thanks you because they was very comfortable. My son and his friend found right at home.
Thank you very much, and I hope to meet once.
Best for you and your family,
We always find the Homestay works best if we chat on line before you book. So please, drop us a note and ask any questions you have and we'll get right back to you.
We look forward to hosting you!
We provide a light breakfast. If you are interested in having dinners with the family that can be arranged for an additional fee. English is the only language spoken in the house (excluding other guests). There is street parking pretty readily available.

About the Area
Our house is located in the Borough of Brooklyn, one of the 5 Boroughs that make up New York City. We live about 1 block from the subway station. Prospect Park South is a very active community with private security and neighbors who keep an eye on the action on the street. The subway does run behind our house and you will probably be aware of it for a day. Then the sound seems to be absorbed and you don't notice it any more. We are about 40 minutes from Kennedy Airport and local transportation is quite good.

Most of the rules are common sense: no food in the bedrooms, we are a non-smoking house, keep the noise to a level that is considerate of other tenants, do not bring non-guests into the home without a prior arrangement with us. A light breakfast is included and we can make arrangements for you to join us for dinner for a very reasonable fee. We do NOT offer our guests kitchen privileges and offer only very minor refrigerator space. Do not plan to store or cook food.
Smoking is not allowed.

Judith and your family are so lovely, I felt lucky for stayed with them. She is amazing, she was so affectionate with me, I felt like her daughter! Thank you so much for the wonderful stay.
Staying at Judith's home was a permanent emotion. I felt in home: safe, loved and confortable. My room was perfect: quiet, clean and good sleep -no noises. Judith is a perfect host: cult, caring of every detail and willing to help to better every detail. The house has soul and peace. The neighborhood is excellent: fancy, safe and well-located one block from Beverly Rd, half an hour to Times Square. I will stay at Judith home again, for sure, in future trips to NYC... I guess she will accept me as one of their fans :) Thank you so much for everything.
The Stevens family is lovely, welcoming, warm and caring !! One of my best experience in my life to discover New York and the US culture in this house !
The neighborhood looks like American series with lovely houses and the subway just at 5min of walk from the house! 25 min to Manhattan :)
Judith cooks as french woman with beautiful dinners, debates and funny moments :))
One advize : come and discover the real New Yorkers as Stevens family ! NYC is full of surprises !
Thank you so much for all of my trip !
Love u ... hope to see you soon in the Big Apple :)
Thanks a lot! They are really awesome host and I got very impressed by their care for my schedules and positive vibe from this family. I hope to see this host again someday.
Foi otimo fui tratado muito bem, eles sao otimas pessoas
Judith is a wonderful host, very thoughtful. I stayed 10 days in the Single Room and there was enough space for one suitcase and a lot of hangers inside the room. But if you need more space, you can use the rack and the table right outside the bedroom and keep your luggage in a room across the hall. The bathroom was shared with other two rooms and I rarely had to wait to use it. Everything was clean and breakfast was great. I also had a great time with their family and friends on Thanksgiving! Judith & Neal, thank you for everything :)
