About the Homestay
Kay's HomeStay for Women
I have two private furnished rooms available to women for short-term housing. My home is located within walking distance to Boston College Law School (Newton Campus).
The rooms are on the third floor of my house where there is a bathroom, which you will share with only one other tenant. Kitchen privileges, Washer & Dryer available. All utilities and high speed internet included. This is a three-story, five-bedroom, two-bathroom, owner-occupied house.
I provide 'self-serve' breakfast items (coffee, orange juice, milk, cereal, bread and jams). Typically, once a week, I will cook a 'family dinner' and invite my two tenants to eat with me. However, most of the time, it's 'do your own thing' for meals.
For graduate or international students, visiting scholars and professors: This is the ideal HomeStay. It is safe, clean, quiet and private. Easy access to Boston College, Boston University and EF Language School. Rent rooms by semester.
For medical professionals: This HomeStay offers short-term housing with a two-week minimum and a six-month maximum stay. It is perfect for a medical student doing clinical rotations and for traveling nurses.
I have been hosting international students in my house for six years. Already 35 young women from all over the world have lived in my home. My house is clean and welcoming. It is located in Newton, a suburb of Boston, which is one of the safest cities in America.
I require a deposit in advance to reserve the room (the first 4 weeks rent), which is paid directly to me. There will also be a simple lease to sign.
For the fall academic calendar, I prefer to rent each room for the entire semester (Typically 17-18 weeks, August 20 - December 20).
For the rest of the year, it's a two-week minimum and six-month maximum stay.
The rent is $250 per week, January-July and $300 per week August-December.
After the deposit is paid and lease signed, I strongly encourage a brief FaceTime conversation.

Unfortunately I had to cancel my stay at Kay's house after two weeks because of the Coronavirus. Still, the short amount of time I had there was the best homestay experience I've ever had. My room (the blue one) was very comfortable and looked exactly like on the pictures. The house had everything you needed: full access to the kitchen, linens/towels, washing machine, storage roometc. Kay was also a very helpful and welcoming host - she picked me up from the airport and helped me with everything on my first days (buying a mobile phone card, grocery shopping, etc.). I also enjoyed all of the family-dinners we had together with the other roommate. I would totally recommend this homestay to anyone looking for housing in Boston/Newton and I look forward to coming back as soon as possible!
Kay is a wonderful host! She shows extensive interest in ensuring that her guests have an excellent stay while also having their own space. She is also an excellent cook- during weekly 'family dinners' every meal prepared was fresh and delicious. I would wholeheartedly recommend staying at her house to anyone looking for housing during an internship/study abroad program/residency.
