Welcome to California! I, Julie, am a native Californian and a retired photographer who has also led several ESL tour groups. My husband, Doug, is a safety officer and works full time.

We like going out to eat and then go watch a movie. I love to go to museums, beaches, and amusement parks. Doug likes to relax at home, watch TV, read , and barbeque and grill when he is not working.

We are active with our church and our adult children and grandchildren, spending most weekends together.

Each morning we will provide breakfast foods for you to help yourself: toast, bagels, waffles, or muffins with yogurt, fruit, and cereal. Lunch and dinner are on your own. We do offer the option of a cooked family style meal four nights a week (Monday - Thursday) for an additional weekly fee of $50 per week.

We are experienced homestay hosts to students from all over the world. We love learning about new cultures and sharing our culture and local areas with visitors. If you need more assistance, for an additional fee, I am happy to assist with sightseeing and activities, transportation, or reservations, even acting as your tour guide if desired.

I can't thank Julie and Doug enough. They are one of the kindest couples I've ever met! I was so comfortable at their place from the first day! I miss them a lot. Their family and friends were so nice to me as well, and I truly enjoyed their company. Although the time I spent there was short, I have a lot of wonderful memories with them.
Also, Julie and Doug are the best gourmet cooks ever!! They cooked me amazing food !! You are in for a treat at their place!

I absolutely loved the time spent with Julie and Doug - you truly feel like a part of the family with them! My room downstairs was cozy and perfect too.... I certainly miss everything about my short stay with them. Recommended for anyone interested in a fun, warm and interactive homestay experience.

Thank you, Sayaka! You are welcome any time. Looking forward to having you over for dinner soon.

How do I book?

Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.

When do I pay?

Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.

When can I share my contact details?

Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
