About the Homestay
I'm a professional chef and have lived in Paris & Brazil. I prepare a full meal every night, and also host ESL students.
As I’m welcoming strangers into my home, I only consider requests from guests who introduce themselves properly and have a profile picture.
I try to keep my rooms booked, so I don't accept reservations more than a week or 2 in advance, and only open my calendar for 5 weeks. So the room may be available for longer than my calendar indicates--please ask!
My price does include self-serve breakfast and a full-course dinner every night, and I also offer an optional Bento lunch for an additional charge.
This site's listing is confusing, because although my price includes breakfast and dinner, it still defaults to say "Please note that only a light breakfast is included in the room rate. All other meals will incur an additional cost. Meals and any additional payment should be arranged directly with your host."
but it also says

About the Area
Quiet, sunny 100 year-old Victorian house, set back behind a garden, and has a porch and yard where we often sit and sometimes eat.
We're in Winter Hill, a safe, quiet neighborhood of Somerville full of old houses with unique architectural features, many with vegetable and flower gardens.
We're centrally located:
--To Harvard and Tufts: 20 minute walk or 10 minute bike ride; 25 minutes by bus and subway.
--To downtown: 20 minutes by bus and subway.
--There are bus stops at both corners, 5 minute walk, which go to the Orange, Red and Green Subway Lines, to take you to Harvard Square, MIT, downtown, tourist areas and the airport.

I do NOT accept smokers, and ask guests to not use fragrances, or even aerosol spray, as I am allergic.

I provide self-serve breakfast and full dinner, which are included in the price, and offer a bento box lunch option at additional cost.
Please note: This site lists the same amount for “2 (or more) people,” meaning that if more than 2 guests book they pay only for 2 guests. I cannot accept that pricing, as I’m providing meals in my home. The price for a third guest in the same room is an additional $50 for that third person per night, or $200 for the third person per week, and $600 for the third person per month.
Also please note: I book by the week, not the calendar month. A week starts Sunday and ends Saturday. I do this because different months have different numbers of days (31, 30 and 28 or 29 in leap year) and I feel it is fair to charge for the nights stayed.
If the room isn't reserved, I may be able to be more flexible with the check-in and check-out time—just ask.
Guests are asked to respect the cleanliness and order of my home by removing shoes (bring slippers!) and keeping noise from computer, music and phone low enough that others outside the room cannot hear. Quiet hours are between 10 pm & 8 am.
Breakfast is self-serve: coffee/tea/milk, bread/pastry, fruit. Guests clean up after breakfast: put dishes in dishwasher and wipe counter & table. Please do not leave dishes in sink or crumbs on table/counter, or bring food into you room.
As dinners are included and significant effort goes into their preparation, guests help by alternating between setting the table, washing dishes, and taking out recycling & sweeping floor. There are usually 2-3 guests total, so this is on a rotating schedule.
I'm a professional chef and enjoy cooking, but am temperamental about sharing my kitchen, so guests have limited kitchen access: they prepare a self-serve breakfast but I cook dinner.
Dinner is between 7:00 and 8:00 pm. If you won't be home for dinner, please notify me the night before.
Because my refrigerator is almost always full with food for my work—and for my guests—I do not save dinner for lunch the next day. Dinner is served at night; if you don't come home for dinner, it is not available to be eaten for lunch the next day.
Please sign up by Thursday night for weekend dinners so I can buy food and plan meals.
Please clean up after yourself in the bathroom: do not leave hair in the sink or bathtub.
Guests who stay longer than a week clean their own rooms during their stay, including dusting and vacuuming.
Please get permission before bringing any guests home. Sleepovers of un-registered guests are not allowed.
Do not put hot pots, especially the kettle, on the countertop or breakfast table. Make tea or coffee on the stainless steel table. If you burn the surface and it leaves a mark, you will have to pay for the repair.
Cell phones are not allowed at the dinner table.
Not suitable for pets
Check-in is after 5PM. Check-out is 10:00 am.
Payment Method: Please note that I require guests to pay 50% of the booking total to me in advance of the booking to hold the room (on top of the 15% deposit is paid to Homestay.com)
The balance is due on arrival in cash.
Cancellation Policy: Please note cancellation policy of at least 7 days prior to arrival. Any cancellation later than this will not be refunded.
Smoking is not allowed.
How do I book?
Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 199 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.
When can I share my contact details?
Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
