About the Homestay
Divorced male, lives with my niece, her husband, and children. Have pets who do not occupy the main living spaces in the home. Our family has hosted over 30 people from the EU, S. Korea, China, Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, Mexico, Central South America. We enjoy domestic travel and international travel and cuisine. Willing to take homestay families or persons to different sights in the Washington DC and Virginia area, can arrange to provide travel to NYC, Florida, Chicago or other cities.
Our home is 3750 square feet, with three levels of living space, and the home is situated on 1/3 acres of land with front, side and back yard - garden space. There are 3 1/2 baths. Our home is non-smoking but smoking is allowed outside the home in the garden areas.
We live 15 minutes from Potomac Mills Mall. It is the largest shopping mall in the Washington DC metro area. Washington D.C. is 25 miles away, we are located near historical battlefields, in addition to a forest for hiking. Our family enjoys cooking and teaching guest how to prepare traditional American, Mexican and Korean meals. We also like to learn how to prepare meals from other countries. We are a fun family and very open to learning from our guest about the culture of their countries. We have bicycles, a tennis court in our community, local recreation centers for swimming or exercise training. If a wheelchair is needed we can provide one to use if a need arises. Single-family home is located in an upscale planned community called the Manors at Winding Creek in Northern Virginia. We live 20 miles South of Washington D.C., 4.5 hours from NYC, 2 hours from the beaches, 1.5 hours from the mountains and our family enjoys day trips and can arrange travel or coordinate trips for our guest. We have hosted for more than 15 years and maintain contact with our international guest in 12 different countries from several contents in the world, Europe - EU, Asia, Australia, Mexico, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, India. I am a retired k- 12 Teacher and have traveled throughout the USA and other countries. I can assist with English language training during your stay. Local transportation, bus and train stations to DC are available. Guest can prepare their food in the kitchen, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Guest will have a seprtate cabinet to store their food. Food is not included in the homestay price. Parking is available if you have a car. You can carpool, vanpool, use a bus or train to Washington DC. Northern Virginia Community college, 'WOODBRIDGE' Campus is 16 minutes away if you are considering taking courses, or an English language course along with othe local Language institutions.
If you rent a car parking is available at our home. There are comuter lots for car pools and ride sharing in addition to bus and train stations that travel to various area in Northern Virginia and Washington D.C. I am also willing to assist with helping with arranging transportation needs.

About the Area
Our home is located 10 minutes form Potomac mills Shopping mall, the largest in the area. Washington D.C. is 16 miles away, NYC is a 4.5 hour drive away, beaches, tourist attractions, battlefields, are with in 2 hours as well as the mountain range. Many restaurants and a large soccer field is located across the street form our home. Our family enjoys to interact with our guest if requested and we can arrange transportation to these destinations. Fishing, camping, hiking is also close.

If you book during a holiday my family and I invite you to enjoy a holiday meal with us at no fee. We believe sharing American holiday traditions with family, friends, and guest. No loud noise or overnight guest allowed. If you like to prepare a traditional dish to share with our family please feel free to do so. NOTE: You may cook in the Kitchen, the host does not provide any meals. I can assist in transportation however taxi, uber and other means of transportation is available. Respect, clean up after your self and no smoking in the home.

How do I book?
Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 199 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.
When can I share my contact details?
Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
