Good sized clean room, excellent location. Very welcoming and friendly host.
My room was nice and clean and everything was in order, wich is good of course. But what really decides if I would ever go back to a place I have stayed are the people I meet there. And I am so glad to say that Thong and his wife was genuine, helpfull and in all really nice people! I would gladly stay at Thongs homestay again!
Thong was a fantastic host who was generous with his time, information, and resources at the house. The location was good and easy to access via public transportation, and the room was cozy and clean. I enjoyed talking to Thong and hearing about his life in Ho Chi Minh City. Thong's mother cooked and served a delicious dinner for us one night, and even though I wasn't able to communicate with her fully, I felt so much love and understanding from his mother the very first time I met her! I would recommend Thong's place to anyone looking for an authentic, entertaining, and welcoming stay in Ho Chi Minh.
Thanks again Thong!
Traveling with my 18 year old daughter. Our first homestay. Definitely different than a typical AirBnb where you meet the owner at check-in and get your key and then don't see him or her until checkout. Here you are staying in a home owned and lived in by Thong with his parents living there as well. Even though your bathroom is supposedly yours, you will be sharing it. Had a little hiccup at arrival as our room was not available as the guests scheduled to checkout were still not back from their tour. Didn't get access to a room until 7pm and it was not the room originally booked and thus had to switch the next day. Still, one has to expect this type of thing, especially in SE Asia where life is more laid back and times and rules seem to be more of a guideline and not hard-fast :). This is a local non-tourist area. Great opportunity to experience a real local Vietnamese neighborhood. As such the prices everywhere are cheap as the only foreigners you are likely to see in that area are those staying at Thong's. Thong's mom is the sweetest and always trying to feed you. Overall a wonderful stay and recommended!
Thong is the best homestay host you could ask for. He's super helpful, super laid-back, and will go above and beyond to help you if you need it. (I witnessed this when two of his guests had their passports stolen. He deserves a medal.) His home is in a good location for visiting the central sight-seeing district, and it's meters away from local food carts and small restaurants. He was happy for me to use his fridge, and he showed me how to make morning coffee on his stove. One note: bring your earplugs. Noise travels easily through the windows and walls, and one of the neighbors has a rooster.
A great and helpful host. Excellent location.
Thong is great host. It helped us with train and airplane booking tickets and gave us a lot of advices. His english is very good.
The position of the house is very central to go around ho chi min.
I recommend his place with no doubts.
"Endroit idéal pour découvrir Saigon. Quartier bien situé et animé, avec de nombreux commerces et restaurants à proximité. Maison accueillante et chambre confortable. Thong est un hôte super, il est disponible et attentif à nos demandes. A recommander absolument !"
Location is great, easy access to airport and downtown by taxi. Lots of restaurant within walking distance. Thong is very hospitable, he cooked a dinner for us one evening, a delicious home-cooked meal. The room is clean & comfortable. We highly recommend Thong's homestay to those who want an authentic homestay experience.
I will start by saying that Thong is a great host. His English is really good, he knows all about Ho Chi Minh City and lives in a very convenient location. From his place you can walk to nearby sites or ride a taxi to everywhere in the city very easily.
I was travelling in Asia with my 9 years old son and when we arrived we were tired and he made us feel very welcome. Once there, we met with 2 other travellers who were staying at Thong's house too and both had great things to say about their stay there. I recommend his place as a stop over or as a place to stay for a few days to learn more about Vietnam and the culture, or just to relax and mingle in a safe Saigon neighbourhood. He even helped us to book flights to other areas of Vietnam because we had just arrived in the country and didn't know too much about the local airlines.
My son and I thank him for his warm welcoming and we hope to see him again one day.
