Staying with Lourdes and the Carbajal family was one of the best decisions I made when going to Peru. I knew no one in the country and was nervous about traveling solo as a woman. But the Carbajal family welcomed me upon arrival and made sure I was always well-taken care of throughout my stay. The room I stayed in was incredibly comfortable from the bed to the TV in the room and the neighborhood in San Borja is the one of the safest and most beautiful in Lima. I lived next to the sports center and within a bus ride of the ocean. Lourdes is the one of the warmest and most inspiring women I have gotten the pleasure to meet and live with. She not only showed me the beauty of Peru from the food to the culture, but also inspired me to continue pursuing the research work I had come to Peru to do. After weeks of staying with the family, Lourdes became a mother figure for me. I also arranged meals with the family and her cooking was delicious and better than any of the restaurants I went out to eat at. The next time I come back to Lima, I am definitely staying with the Carbajal family. I would highly recommend staying with them especially for solo travelers looking to find and create a home away from home.

Mi hospedaje con Lourdes y la familia Carbajal era uno de los mejores decisiones que hize cuando fui a Perú. No conocí nadie en el país y estaba muy nerviosa para viajar sola, especialmente porque soy una mujer. La familia Carbajal me dio una bienvenida muy cálida en mi llegada y me cuidó como si fuera una parte de la familia durante mi estancia. Mi habitación estaba muy comóda y el vecindario en San Borja es uno de los vecindarios más seguros y lindos en Lima. Viví al lado del polideportivo y cerca del malecón. Lourdes es una de lo más cariñosa y inspiradora personas que tenía la suerte a conocer. Ella me mostraba la belleza de Peru (desde la comida a la cultura) y también me inspiró a seguir en mis investigaciones y proyecto que fui a Perú a hacer. Después de semanas viviendo con la familia, me sentí que Lourdes era como una madre para mi. También arreglé comidas con la familia y su cocina estaba riquisíma, mejor que las mayorías de las restaurantes en la ciudad. La próxima vez que vuelvo a Lima, seguramente voy a quedarme con la familia Carbajal. Le recommendaría a todos, especialmente para viajeros solo quien están buscando una hogar fuera de su hogar.
