I stayed with Bouchra and her family for a total of 15 nights while I attended a workshop in Boston. I can honestly say that it was the best travel experience I have ever had. Bouchra, her husband, and her children all welcomed me warmly. They could not have been more accommodating. My room was clean and quiet, and I was always offered meals when I was present at mealtimes. They are also willing to help you navigate the area. The proximity to the airport is also very convenient. There is no reliable public transport where I am from, so to have someone I could ask about how to navigate it helped me greatly!

There are several MBTA bus stops within about a 5-7 minute walk from the house, making public transport a good option. If you mean to commute to the city via public transit, plan to spend around an hour to an hour and a half doing so. I used the MBTA Trip Planner to figure my way around, and I definitely recommend that as they have good maps to show you exactly where transit points are and how much walking is involved in each possible option. You do not really need a Charlie pass unless you do not have Google Pay or Apple Pay - I did all of my getting around with Apple Pay.

I cannot recommend Bouchra enough to anyone looking for a convenient place to stay in the Boston area. I am so glad I found her on Homestay, and I will definitely be checking with her first in all my future trips to Boston!

From the moment I arrived, I felt incredibly welcomed and at ease, thanks to the warmth and generosity of the hosts. The hosts were the epitome of hospitality. They greeted me with genuine smiles and made sure I had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. They went out of their way in areas that were not expected, but most definitely appreciated. Their home is located in a suburban area which was extremely quiet and safe. Leaving early and arriving late was no issue. I would say that the walls are quite thin so activity/loud noises are easily heard, as a heavy sleeper I had no issue.

I did not rent a car during my stay, I figured public transportation would suffice and it sure did. I purchased a seven-day Charlie pass for $22.50 and it was a blessing throughout my stay. Unlimited bus and train transfers meant traveling outside of Boston was a breeze. The home is close to the airport, if no rental, roughly 45 minutes: transfer using the airport's local shuttle bus (88,66) to the train station called Blue Line Wonderland and the bus 110 Wellington drops you off so close that it's only a five minute walk to their home. With a car, the home is roughly 15 minutes from BOS. Salem was 1hr bus ride and traveling to the inner Boston can be anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes.

Whether you’re looking for a place to relax and unwind or a home base from which to explore, this homestay offers the best of both worlds in my opinion. The hospitality and warmth of the hosts make it stand out as a truly special place, and I would absolutely return without hesitation. If you’re ever in the area, I highly recommend it!
