Mariam has previously stayed in 1 homestay.
I loved my time in Peru and a large part of this was because I stayed with Fanny and Richard. They were an incredibly welcoming family and really made me feel at home. I was in Lima for 6 weeks working at a hospital that was walking distance; I felt that San Borja was pretty safe. A great thing about this house is that you can get as involved with the family as you like. You can have privacy as all the guest rooms are on the 2nd floor and you can also socialise with the family downstairs and they are always happy to chat to you and teach you more about Peruvian culture.
I did my shopping at the supermarket, which is 3 minutes walk away and cooked in the family kitchen. Fanny would often offer me some of her Peruvian cooking to try which was lovely.
I was also very lucky that I was able to make friends with a girl who was living there long term and showed me around Lima.
The only critical feedback that I can give is that they could maybe provide more resources just for the guests on the 2nd floor. For example I would have to ask for more toilet roll every few days and would have to ask to borrow the family’s iron. In addition, there is just one washing machine for the entire family and all their guests, which means that you sometimes had to wait a few days in order to be able to wash your clothes.
Overall I had a great time staying with this family and would highly recommend it! It has made me want to return to Lima to stay with them in future!
