We payed $240.50 USD for a two person room for five nights - way too much. The prices is way to high compared to the price when you walk in from the street and there's not value for the money. We confronted Mercedes with the high price but we had to pay. Found another place for last day we stayed in Trinidad.
Compared to five other homestays we had in Cuba the breakfast was lousy. Dry bread, only one egg (always two in other places), the coffee no good. We asked for a price for a taxi to Varadero. They sad 30 CUC per person, but we got it for 20 in the street. We asked for a price for a horseride - they said 30 CUC person - but we got it for 13 talking to the horseman.
Nice staff - but the place has too much focus on making money!Host reply

Mecedes and her family are great. At check-in she offered a welcome coffee and a warm welcome. She organized every transfer we asked. Good breakfast (not included in the price but with a very reasonable price, only 5 CUC per person per day). Reach breakfast with lots of coffee grinded at the moment, fruits, good juices, eggs, bread, ham & chees).
She also offered to all guests in house a beautiful dinner for new year day with her family as well.
Rooms we had were placed at ground floor (better to ask for the ones placed inside the patio). Beds and furniture are not brand new but at the end were good enough to sleep.
In Cuba, all houses we have been are quite old and travellers have to take this as an experience. Not pretending much for the hard history of such a beautiful state.
Water is not longer running all day and sometimes you can take a cold shower or hot shower. Once you learn the right time, cannot compaint.
Trinidad is a beautiful place to spend some days, enjoying the center, bars, restaurants and live music in the main square at night.
Beaches are fully furnished (beach loungers, bars and food served on the beach).
At the end, we have a good memory of our stay in Mercedes' and would choose her for a next trip in our future.
I believe she's going to make some improvements and another couple of new rooms.

Mercedes was a really sweet person. She cooked a super dinner with wine, free of charge for our 30th wedding anniversary. How nice!! The rooms are fine, but not great and there can be some problems with water. The courtyard is delightful and the location is perfect
