We arrived on the bus from Havana, wondering if we would be able to find Francisco's casa, when all of a sudden we heard our names being called, and there he was waiting to welcome us at the bus stop! We stayed with Francisco for 8 nights and couldn't have felt more relaxed after our stay. He serves some of the best coffee with huge and delicious breakfasts on his balcony every morning. Not forgetting his great taste in music! The flat was spacious, with a separate kitchen (with fridge) and modern bathroom. After a day at the beach, it was great to come back to the neighbourhood and relax. We found it easy to get to Varadero, either by bus or taxi (we recommend taxi after 5pm as buses finish around this time) but equally enjoyed spending time in the neighbourhood. The area is very non-touristy and friendly, and there is a small beach very close-by, as well as an excellent fish restaurant and very nice ice-cream place. Francisco, thank you for a lovely stay!

We stayed with Mary initially for 5 nights and had such a great time that we decided to return to spend our last night in Havana with her. The flat was very comfortable, clean and spacious and located in a great part of Havana, and we felt right at home. Mary helped us with every question we had and provided information before we even asked. She is extremely organised and thinks very carefully about all the details involved in her guests' stay, for example stocking the fridge with water. The breakfasts were delicious and kept us going for a good part of the day, especially the wonderful coffee. Mary is such a warm and caring person and we would highly recommend staying with her.
