This was our favorite of the four Homestay casas that we stayed in during our Cuban holiday. The inside if this casa is pretty. There is a lovely exterior "hallway" and small courtyard where we ate breakfast as well as a couple of dinners (all very good). Iris, the maid/cook was always such a cheerful lady. Yailyn was in the hospital having her first baby, Dilan and brough him home a couple of days before we left so we got to meet both of them. Her husband, Delvis, was a great host despite all the added excitement associated with a new baby. We had a few good conversations with him that gave us insight into the Cuban way of life. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa Santo Domingo.
A very nice elderly couple are hosts. Neither speak English & we only know a few Spanish worda, so communication was a challenge - lots of gesturing & smiling. The casa is a small bungalow. We were the only guests. The was basic with 2 3/4 size beds, a small private bath, no hot water in the sink, no hair dryer or safe (contrary to the Homestay web site). And breakfast is not included.
Nice casa in Havana Centro. Nicholas & Rosie are good hosts. Both speak English. This was the first casa which provided all the amenities as stated on Homestay website - hair dryer, TV, safe. The maid was very sweet. It is about a 25 minute walk to Parque Central & another 5 minutes to Havana Vieja. La Guardia restaurant is just a few metres up the street, but if you want a good very inexpensive meal try La Garabia one block away.
