My husband and I built our beautiful Traditional Perigodine Timber framed house in 2013. It is situated in the Perigold Noir region of the Dordogne with reaching views to the Central Massif. We have a 2 acre garden which is surrounded by wood's and countryside. We have lived in France permanently for 2 years and owned a holiday home for 12 years and absolutely love it here. The house is a three bedroomed property with two bathrooms, a toilet, Large Timber Balcony and two large covered terraces. There are two bedrooms available to guests the double Bedroom with beams and an identical Twin bedroom . There is a beautiful bathroom with Cast Iron slipper bath Shower, Bidet, and Toilet. Downstairs there is open plan living/dining area with central feature woodburner and a Large Farmhouse dining table. We have a TV and board games (No TV in bedrooms) Outside there is a 5 x 10 salt swimming pool which we swim from April to October. There are two covered Terraced areas and a Balcony where we take meals and relax. There is a large drive in front of the house with garage parking if required!. We keep chickens for fresh eggs and have two friendly dogs. (dogs not allowed upstairs)
My husband is a Sales engineer and travels the world so always has some interesting stories for our guests. In my previous life I was an Accountant but now spend my time cooking, walking, foraging and looking after our small holding. We like to be involved in the local community and have some lovely French neighbours who frequently arrive with local food offerings. In the morning we go for a walk and visit the local baker for fresh bread and croissants, if I am too lazy to make my own! I enjoy cooking, baking and trying out local dishes so that is always a treat, or experience. Gentle cycle rides and walks can be taken. Hot Air Ballooning from the Hautefort Chateau is a treat. And if you are energetic enough there is canoeing in the local rivers. We like to visit the abundance of french markets we have locally and also find hidden restaurants to eat out. Although the Dordogne is not a wine region, we have a few vineyards locally and famous for our Walnut aperitif and Foie gras
One day to visit the Dordogne is never enough. Enjoy! Glynis and Nick XX
