Daniel is a fantastic host who is doing wonderful things for his community. He runs a free English school, a textiles co-op, a recycling program and more. So by staying at Daniel's homestay, you will be supporting all of these projects (which depend on donations) and directly helping his community. If you're really lucky, he might show you his music studio too!
Daniel and his family are incredibly welcoming and hospitable, and will cook delicious food for you during your stay. The accommodation is fairly basic, but is still comfortable and has decent amenities. And it is well located only a short walk to the centre of town.
Thanks to Daniel and his family, I really enjoyed my time in San Juan. I highly recommend staying here for a very authentic experience.Host reply

Our home stay with Daniel and his family was awesome!! He has a wonderful family - his wife daughters and son were so kind and welcoming.
The accommodation was a bed my friend and I shared in a separate room and that worked great. The bathroom was shared. Shower is a bucket shower with water warmed up on stove. I found in all places I stayed in guatemala there is background noise so I would recommend ear plugs if that’s an issue for you.
We loved learning about the community project and visiting the school, we enjoyed dinners with Daniel and his wife chatting and getting to know one another. And it was great to stay in San Juan La Laguna - a great place and easy for day trips to other cities and a beautiful town in itself. Daniel was very responsive on whattsapp when I arrived and had to change my dates. Meals were delicious and we can’t say enough good things :). It was a great way to live with a family, learn more about the culture and explore a new place.
We loved our time in San Juan La Laguna with Daniel and his family!

December 2022
