About the Area

Our house is located 4 miles west of Castletownbere on the Beara Peninsula, in the South West of Ireland. This is both a remote and vibrant town, due to the busy fishing port. Tourism is secondary to fishing, and it is a peninsula full of surprises, such as Ireland's largest Buddhist centre and many resident artists such as Sarah Walker and Tim Goulding.
The town has all the basics (supermarket, pharmacies, hardware shops), and some of the extras, including decent coffee shops, good restaurants, and a very nice hotel.
There is both a private and a public bus service between Cork city and Castletownbere, but there is very little local public transport.

Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile.
