Located in the heart or rural Waikato, we welcome international travellers to come and stay with us at our home in the hills of Tirau, South Waikato on our dairy farm. We are only a minute or two off State Highway one and only 5 minutes drive to our local small town of Tirau - famous for its corrogated iron giant Dog & Sheep sculptures plus other sculptures.
You will need a car to get here and to visit any local attractions, although a bus pickup/dropoff in Tirau may be a possibility. We have worked in the tourism industry in NZ and Europe before our farming days so we can help you with planning your holiday in NZ.
We have a cat, a Fox Terrier dog, chickens who are friendly and provide fresh eggs for your breakfast, and lots of cows - fresh milk from the farm, a big garden - which provides us with lots of vegetables. Also there are some lovely views from the top of our farm over looking the rolling hills around us if you want to go for a walk. We have 2 daughters 12 & 13yrs old who love to show you the animals, play board games if you want to or learn about the country you have come from.
We are close to Lake Karapiro and the waikato river trails, Hobbiton Movie Set , cougar park mountain biking park and only a 40 - 50 minute drive from Rotorua, Mt Maunganui and Hamilton. Auckland International airport is approximatley 1hr 45min drive.
The room available is a large downstairs room with a King Size bed and a single bed available. It also has its own lounge area with couch and TV. Wifi is available to use but we ask that you dont download any movies or anything large as we are limited on the amount we get.
A homecooked dinner is available if required (including pre dinner cheese and cracker platter, choice of Main meal & dessert) for $40 per person. All meals are Gluten Free. Other allergies may be able to be catered for if requested in advance. A packed lunch can be arranged if needed for $15 per person.
Please note that you will have use of your own toilet but the main bathroom (shower & bath) is a shared family one.
We may be able to accommodate international travellers for more than 2 nights but this is by request only.

About the Area
Close to Hobbiton (15 - 20min drive), Tirau is a 5 min drive. Quiet farming area. You will be staying in our family home with us - myself and my husband and our 2 daughters aged 12 & 13.

How do I book?
Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.
When can I share my contact details?
Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
