Behnam is quite knowledgeable, gave us a lot of useful information and took us to watch traditional body building. However, unfortunately we did not enjoy our stay with Behnam. The house is quite old, has a weird smell and dusty. It is not as clean as he says on the profile page. More importantly, he is not an honest person. Many times, he tried to take advantage of the fact that we may not know the price well. He tried to scam our money multiple times. Let me just list one that annoyed us the most. On our last day in Shiraz, Behnam said that he would help call a taxi for us to go to the train station. At first we gladly agreed without thinking much. In the past, many homestay hosts used the taxi app Snapp to call taxi for us. (Somehow our phone cannot download Snapp). It's much cheaper that way, and there is no problem calling taxi for others and you pay the driver directly. Later on when we asked Behnam the price of taxi he said 30,000 Tomans. This is much higher than we expected. We asked if he used Snapp. He said you cannot use Snapp for others, which was a big fat LIE. So he arranged it with someone else. (Presumably someone he could get a commission) In the end, we hailed a taxi on the street, it costed us 20,000 Tomans. If he would use Snapp, the price would be even lower. Until now, this behavior disgusts me. I will not list other incidents, such as trying to charge us more for lunch after Persepolis trip, otherwise this review will be like an essay. Also, it's not worth it having meals in Behnam's house. 4 USD for tiny portion of leftover food is ridiculous. The same price you can have a big plate of kebab in restaurant. One last thing, Behnam did offer the big room for us without additional charge. But only after we refused the first three times (at the beginning it was extra 10 USD per night), and only because he had another guest coming to our room at 7 AM on the day of our departure.

Staying with Maryam was one of the best homestay experiences. The flat was very big and comfortable. Maryam was very nice and friendly; her dad was the highlight of our trip. He drove us to Fin Garden for free and bought us local ice-cream. We are very grateful for their warm welcome.

Very spacious area with private toilet and shower for us. Zahra also took us around the neighbourhood in the evening, which was very nice.
