IT WOULD BE NO HEARTS IF THAT WAS POSSIBLE
I was booked for a month, I arrived on Saturday and the host and her friend were very friendly however that was short lived. I was then told by my host she would be going on holiday for 3 weeks. Even the week she was back she only stayed a few nights in the house. She asked for the money before she left, considering I arrived on sat night and started work on the Sunday I didn't have time to withdraw such a large amount at once. However when I asked for an invoice as I said I would transfer it into her account whilst she was gone she said she doesn't do invoices but chose to leave it at that point and thought I would ask again before leaving. Which I did but I didn't get one and over 2 and half weeks later I still haven't received one as I text her my email so there really are no excuses apart from one that I can think of. Her son was also living in the property and he was lovely as he's the one that showed me how to use their oven, etc. When my tv didn't work in the room he said he would get someone out to look at it until his mother told him not to. The ensuite was supposed to be within the room but it's not. One night at 3am someone walked into my room and switched the light on drunk and it made me uncomfortable even though the son was apologetic yet his mother when I mentioned to after her 3 week holiday it bothered her more someone was vomiting in the house. That same night the bathroom that was 'supposedly' ensuite someone decided to use to vomit in until 6am and not clean up after themself. A light breakfast was supposed to have been provided yet not once was it. I had to go and buy my own milk, juice, fruit and cereals but eventually I did find a draw full of cereal not sure if it was for guests or their own use. I've used Homestay before and the hosts have been wonderful, hence why the name of homestay...home from home. Yet this was the complete opposite. All I was was pound signs and my point was proved when the host didn't even know my name properly when I left. The oven stopped working in the last week and when I text the host to let her know she didn't reply, when most my meals were cooked in the oven. I find it disgusting that homestay allow people to be hosts but the hosts don't have to actually physically be there. And her son who is 20, it was not his responsibility to show me anything. I made sure she got her money after I couldn't transfer it from my account as she was not listed on the names previously paid for anything as I had forgot my pins entry machine at home so in the end I gave the money to her son to transfer from his account to hers but I was asked daily for it by him which obviously was his mum asking yet I couldn't get a light breakfast and a simple invoice, a tv that worked, no hairdryer like it states, an oven that worked, heating when it was cold as I was told to specifically not to change the times and believe me it was cold in Dec and early Jan. When I rang the number that was left of her friends who also offers Homestay if I had any problems, just wanted to know if there were any blankets, she didn't answer or return my call. I contacted homestay and asked them for an invoice and informed them of situation but unfortunately they can't provide one as she took the money so she'll have to provide it. Obviously homestay contacted her as now I'm blocked, how mature of a middle aged grown woman who is supposed to make you feel at home. I wasn't even going to write a review as I was taught if you have nothing nice to say don't say nothing but after the childish immaturity this mature in age woman has shown and the way she treated me like it was fine. No it's not fine and you shouldn't be a host because to be a host you need to care. And that was the last thing you cared about. Why take on a guest if you're not going to be there even when you are in the country. I met lovely people in Torquay unfortunately it should have been my host that stood out, oh she did but for all the wrong reasons.October 2016

Samantha was a great host, she made us feel at home straight away, the room was very big with 2 double beds, spotlessly clean, a sea view and very nice bathroom. We would highly recommend staying here. Apologies for taking a while to do this review due to ill health.
