10 miles s.e. of Newport, OR surrounded by hundreds of acres of forest and fronting on a deep tidal river, here you can have your private room and bath with use of owner's kitchen-living-dining area, and free use of kayaks that fit all sizes and talents. (Glad to give basic lessons.) Whether it's hiking, biking, mushroom foraying, or wildlife watching or if you just want to relax, read, play music, write, or snooze--you can do it here.

About the Area
From the highway you enter the forest first on 2 miles of county gravel road, then 2.5 miles of private drive. You may well see deer or elk along the way. Near the end you pass through 230 acres of magnificent old growth, then through Wetlands Conservancy lands to your destination on the waters of Poole Slough (a wide tidal river that feeds into Yaquina Bay about 4.5 miles s.e. of Newport.
Meals
Hosts can offer a complimentary light breakfast at their discretion. All other meals, including a full breakfast, might incur an additional cost, if offered. Meals and any additional payment should be arranged directly with your host.

House Rules
This is a no shoe house with plenty of slippers available. Non-smoking and sorry, no pets (unless someone wants to stay with the pet in the cabin about 200 ft away). The guest room has a queen bed fine for two. An extra person, child, would be considered if air mattress or living room fold down chair is okay. Use of kayaks and equipment for all guests, but guests take complete responsibility for their own safety.

How do I book?
Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.
When can I share my contact details?
Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
