About the Homestay

It’s just two of us here in our 4-bedroom, 2.5 bath suburban home. We live in Whitestown, a suburb of Indianapolis. The local high school is about 20 minutes away and there are university campuses spread all over the city. It takes about 25 minutes to get to the biggest university, IUPUI, which is in downtown Indianapolis. As far as amenities, restaurants, shopping and entertainments, walking and biking trails and parks are all nearby. There are language schools as well.
We have 2 guest rooms available, both on the second story, one with 2 twin beds and 1 with a king size bed. There is one shared bath between those 2 rooms (so if only one is occupied, then the bath is private). My husband and i have our own bathroom, and of course there is a half bath on the main floor which can be used by anyone.
As far as shared spaces go, we have a loft on the second floor as well, which is a nice TV/hang out space. The laundry room is also on the second floor, with washer, dryer and utility sink. Street or driveway parking is available. Downstairs is all one open area, with a fully-equipped kitchen, eating area, and living room with fireplace. Outside we have a back patio with spaces for sitting and eating. Our patio faces a small pond so we have a pleasant view. We also have a small bistro area on our front porch as well. It’s really nice in the summer and fall, but honestly the winters are not my favorite time of year. It gets fairly cold here and we get snow, which my husband loves and I do not - lol.
Additionally, if guest or guests need a dedicated workspace, I can make my home office available to you. Since I work PT, I am not in there all the time, and I can work in other areas of the house as well. My office is equipped with printer/copier/scanner, tall desk (can use it as a standing desk), but also with a tall bar-height chair so you can sit as well. Wi-Fi access of course, and a closed door for privacy.
For us, the hosts, let’s see, we like to have friends and family over for dinners and get-togethers. Our neighborhood is very friendly so we have neighbors over or go over to their places to hang out or share a meal. My husband and I both are in school right now and he works FT, me PT, so we do spend a lot of time working and studying. I spend the rest of my time cleaning and organizing the house. And hubby likes to do house projects and garden in his free time. We both love to read - fiction, non-fiction and have many interests including news, politics, international affairs, gardening (him), history. We both love to cook so we are often cooking or baking. I like to run and hubby likes to go hiking at nearby parks. To relax we like to read, play games on our iPads, or watch stream our favorite shows.
I speak French and am studying Arabic. Hubby is learning French, level A1.

Our house is located Northwest of Indianapolis in a quiet, safe, and friendly suburban neighborhood. Although most of our neighbors were born and raised in the States, we also have families from Congo, Benin, Guinea, India, Pakistan, and Honduras.

No shoes inside the house please (you can have shoes/slippers that are worn only inside of course, “indoor shoes”).

How do I book?
Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.
When can I share my contact details?
Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
