Brandon, Dung (pronounced Yoong in English), and our son, Kha live in rural Vietnam in Dong Nai province (about halfway between Saigon and Da Lat). Brandon was born and raised in Berkeley, California. Dung and Kha were both born in Việt Nam and have dual US and Vietnamese citizenship. All three speak English and Vietnamese.

We have a three bed-room, two-bathroom house in the Vietnamese countryside. There is a front garden and a back and side yard. Every house (ours included) has chickens and at least one dog in the yard, though we have nets up which try to keep the chickens away from the house and porches. We have a kitchen and living room which are shared, one bathroom and one bedroom would be private for whoever is staying with us.

There is no air conditioning (very few houses here have it) but the house is open with many windows and we have fans. There is a back porch and I have a concept 2 rowing machine there which I brought from the USA which you are welcome to use if you want. You'd be welcome to share all of our meals, or go into town. Like most people here we usually go out for breakfast and cook lunch and dinner, but we have fresh eggs, oatmeal, and other things you could cook if you want to eat breakfast in the house.

You can borrow a bicycle to go into town (it's a very short ride), and we can arrange transportation if you need to go anywhere farther than that.

About the Area

Our house is in the countryside in the town of Phu Hoa, which is about a 15 minute drive from the main highway going from Saigon to Da Lat. In Phu Hoa we're on a small side road about a five minute walk from the main road going through town. The countryside is relatively peaceful, with many trees. There are many chickens, cows, and dogs in the area (along with geese, ducks, and just about any other animal that can be raised).

There are roosters and karaoke, and everyone around here (except us) gets up for work at dawn, but it's still much quieter than Saigon.

There are no animals in the house, but almost all of the houses here have chickens and unleashed dogs running around in the yards, ours included.

Smoking Rules

Smoking is not allowed.

How do I book?

Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.

When do I pay?

Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.

When can I share my contact details?

Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
