Unfortunately, we could not stay with Yamilka when we came, but she had us stay at her friend's homestay instead. Her friend was very hospitable, made us lots of mohitos and took us out on the town to party during the festival week in Cienfuegos. We also got to practise a lot of Spanish. Just make sure you agree prices if they offer to cook any meals. We came on a very tight budget and would have happily gone out and eaten at local places, which were very cheap in Cienfuegos. However, we opted to eat in at the homestay because our host offered to cook for us. Nothing was said about the price of these meals, so we assumed it was on the house. However, just as we left, the bill was whipped out, and needless to say we could have saved a lot of money by eating out. That being said, all the meals were delicious and the hostess put her heart and soul into making sure we had a great time and got the best out of the town.

Lovely house, very hospitable family! Willing to cook very big meals (for a fee) and happy to wait up when we went to the cave rave at night in order to be able to let us in through the front door. Trinidad is also a beautiful town with lots to see - definitely worth a visit
