About the Homestay
We have just completed some renovations on the house so the flatette is now totally private with no shared areas and we are constantly making improvements to facilities all the time. We are very sociable and happy to have a conversation but also respect your privacy and won't invade it unless either required or requested. Our house is shared with an outside cat and 2 outside dogs who are very happy to greet new people and have a play.
If you hire a car there is a free parking bay for you to leave it in. The bus service is great and it is easy to get to all areas of Perth from here and the bus stop is only 20 metres from the front door. A wide variety of bus timetables are supplied for your convenience as well as other tourist information, local food delivery and restaurants in the area etc.
Local and holiday attraction brochures have been supplied so you can plan your activities, make booking arrangements and enjoy your stay here.
The flatette is well equipped for those times you just feel like relaxing and we have a well stocked library of DVD's to choose from and fast wifi. It has it's own separate entry, so you don't have to worry about disturbing anyone when returning late at night. There is also an international power board so you don't need to bring your own and a USB bank for charging your electronic equipment. You also have your own kitchen/laundry with a full size fridge, space to place your own food etc and cooking equipment supplied. Linen and towels are also supplied.
Our house is a very short walk (less than 1min) to local transport. If you need retail therapy, we have a very small shopping complex nearby (supermarket, halal butcher, fast food store, liquor store & post office) and a very large one a short bus ride away. There are also a range of cafe style restaurants and bars close by, with many more to choose from in the city. If you are in to health and fitness we have a huge park at the end of the street and a gymnasium at the large shopping complex or around the corner at the university.

I did enjoy my stay with Lisa. On the day of my arrival Lisa was there to greet me and made me feel welcome and 'at home' straight away (even though i was very tired from travelling all day!)
Lisa showed me through her home and provided detailed information of what (she) thought I should know ...which was great.
Lisa introduced me to her daughter and the rest of the family ...a lovely cat and two beautiful dogs which to me was all what was good with my host Lisa.
Lisa's home is clean and comfortable as i anticipated it to be and my room too was great with a very comfortable bed.
Lisa's home is close to a good Public Transport Network and within easy walking distance to Curtin University.
In closing and as a guest of Lisa, I have been privileged to stay with Lisa at her Homestay here in Bentley, Western Australia.
This guest awarded the host 5 hearts but didn’t leave any comments.
The suite itself was good. The place was spotless when we arrived and it had all the promised appliances and household items. We had our own private side of the house and Lisa was always courteous about knocking before coming into our suite. We did end up buying a few things like new cutlery, and tupperware, and some cooking utensils but that was mostly due to personal preference. Lisa provided us with a handy knife set and would generously leave a full loaf of fresh bread for us almost every week.
The neighbourhood was a little dodgy. We did not look too hard into what neighbourhoods were like in Perth, we just saw that it was close to the university and went for it. There was subsidized housing across the street and at least one night a week we were awoken by very loud screaming and shouting from across the street. We were never fearful for walking around but we did tend to try and get dropped off as close to home as we could if it was after dark. There was an IGA just around the corner and several coles and Wentworths were an easy walk or a quick drive away. Although the bus routes were conveniently located right outside the house we found that overall Perth transit (busses at least) weren't all that efficient and trips into town could take the better part of an hour. We also found later at night, that busses getting back home from downtown were very few and took well over an hour. We ended up using Uber a lot more.
The house was very loud. There is a resident dog that would bark endlessly through the night and into the morning with nobody controlling it or trying to quiet it down.
This was probably our biggest issue. Our sleep was greatly disrupted and it got to the point where we had to say something to Lisa. She did take some measures to quiet the dog down and for the remaining week or so of the stay the dog was moderately quieter.
Overall, we got what we paid for. We had a comfortable, private roof over our heads with enough amenities to cook meals, keep food, stay clean, and do laundry. If given the option to do it again, we would likely not stay here mostly because of a) the location and b) the noise
Excellent and Friendly. Love to return for holiday and stay at this lovely place
She allowed my dog to stay which was nice. The room was very comfortably and the owner was very nice. The place has a very happy atmosphere.
lots of privacy, nice host, accomodation has everything you need for a stay, good public transport access to Perth's CBD
Good for budget , can cook near shopping mall . Great place for couple or backpack . Owner is very friendly ...
