Dublin Homestay for U2 Joshua Tree Tour

Ludo and his partner from France stayed with host Brian in Dublin a short walk to Croke Park to attend the U2 Joshua Tree Tour. They chose their homestay host Brian as he had some great guest comments. Ludo had the time of his life in Dublin. It was first time in Dublin and he said he will never forget it. "It was just full of intensity, full of dreams, full of emotion, full of energy...unforgettable...just like Dublin City.... GO for Ireland !!" Read all about his stay.

Brian and Aileen were very friendly. The house is very close to Croke Park and very easy to find. It was only a 15 minutes walk to reach the stadium and for the the laziest among us, there is also a possibility to take the bus 123 which leaves you 200 m from it. A very important thing, at night, Brian's street is quiet but he told us that a very small area around the stadium could be not so safe...so be aware ! They also helped us a lot during our stay and recommended some great places to eat in (L Mulligan grocer to experience a great Irish revisited gastronomy or Leo Burdock sfor the best Fish&chips in the world !!...ok maybe not in the worlld ...) They also helped us navigate our way easily through the town. They were very easy to speak with and made us feel at home.

What did you do in Dublin?

We were just in Dublin for 3 nights to see U2 and enjoy the city life. Brian gave us some excellent recommendations for places to eat out. Our favourite was L Mulligan Grocer in Stoneybatter. The whiskey, beer and food menus are seasonal and change regularly. Each of the main courses are matched with a beer or cider and the desserts are matched with a whiskey. Highly recommended.

Any tips or advice for other travellers to Dublin?

We really enjoyed our stay in Dublin and every Irish person we met was so friendly and polite. We went to many pubs in Temple Bar, some of them were quite expensive but the atmosphere was out of this world. If you want to experience the cultural side of the city, you can visit many different museums (Archeological for instance which was very interesting) or just walk through the different parks of the town.
