The Serra do Mar coastal forest is an ecoregion of the Atlantic Forest biome located in the Serra do Mar mountain range, which runs along the southern coast of Brazil for about 1,000 kilometres (620 mi). 70% of the original forest has already been altered by settlement and agriculture. Our villa is located in a 5,000 sqm plot which is literally inside the remaining forest, at an elevation of 950 meters, and only 12 kilometers away from the urban area of Petrópolis, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The main house has seven bedrooms in total, plus a large living room, library, breakfast room, dining room, audio&video room, a cozy balcony, and a huge kitchen. There is also an attached house with two bedrooms, living room, kitchen and bathroom. In a separate building, we have a gourmet space containing a charcoal grill and a wood-fired oven where we prepare delicious pizzas. This building also contains a game room with an official snooker table and a spa with a steam room and a hot tub for up to six people. The external areas have a beautiful swimming pool, plus lawns, gardens, a grove of native trees and a creek with crystal clear water, which forms an exotic river beach. All of this is surrounded by the lush green and paradisiacal beauty of the moist broadleaf forest and the mountains, where you can do unforgettably beautiful walks.
We are a couple of fifties, with five children altogether. Our children now live, work and/or study in the large urban centers of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, and one of them is studying in San Diego, US. They visit us regularly. We have a history of hospitality that can be attested by many guests, from all the five continents.
We have a very friendly silk terrier.

About the Area
Our house is located in one of the most exclusive neighborhoods of the municipality of Petrópolis, which is known in Brazil as the Imperial City. We are 17 km from the city's historical center, and 11 km from its intercity bus station, where you can take a local bus (line 101) that will drop you close.

House Rules
1) We provide clean bed linen, towels and soap at the beginning of the stay. These items are not replaced during the stay unless we are required to do it, at an extra cost.
2) We have no maid service. The guests should keep their rooms clean and tidy.

How do I book?
Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.
When can I share my contact details?
Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
