Greetings! Welcome to Sunshiny Calgary!
We are opening our home to you, international students and workers because we love to share our rich Canadian and Filipino culture! We have hosted students from Asia, Europe and Africa, and they were very enriching for both parties. We have two sons (25 and 23-year-olds), but one is a missionary in Europe and one is studying at McGill University in Montreal, so they are with us during vacation time only.
We have a mini poodle, he is hypoallergenic and he does not shed. He is really friendly and sweet. But you can always ignore him if you do not want to be bothered.
We are offering two upper floor bedrooms, and one bedroom with ensuite in the basement. All three rooms have complete furniture. We provide self-serve light breakfast and dinner and we are flexible with fees and meals. You are welcome to use the kitchen if you want to prepare your own food but make sure you clean after. Laundry detergent is included in the monthly payment and there are no extra fees.
We are in the quiet neighbourhood in Harvest Hills, close to the park, banks, library, recreational centre, grocery stores, Cross Iron Mills, and express routes to downtown and University of Calgary. It is a friendly and quiet community, good for studying and walking.
There's a 60 inch TV, a collection of DVDs from classics to comedies, a treadmill and a wired and wireless internet. There is also a half court basketball in the driveway and table tennis. We organize fundraising events, backyard BBQ, park picnics and sports events.
If you want, we would love to bring you to festivals and events and introduce you to people as a way of language immersion and learning Canadian culture. If you want, you can also come with us when we go on vacations.
I am a previous university professor, and currently working as a language instructor, thus I can assist you in your language learning if you need help.
We treat our homestay students as family members and we help them to enjoy and become successful in their stay in Canada.
Our house rules are no smoking and no excessive drinking. You may sometimes bring friends at home (but make sure to inform or ask for permission in advance).
In addition to these rules, our family rules are: love God above all, hold hands, love one another, do not lie, work hard, family first.

When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.
