Beautiful colonial casa with proper powerful hot water a rarity in Cuba I found, delicious breakfast and nice roof top terrace and balcony. Paula and her crew were a pleasure to deal with and were always on hand to give help. One of the best value for money spots in Cuba
The room was comfortable and with a huge bathroom, although the mattress was very thin and with old springs hurting my back. Nice breakfast. Not a single smile was seen on the face of the owner during our whole stay and she refused to change our sheets after 3 days, when we politely asked. The morning we left the room she entered the room and started doing her things even if we were still inside. The positions, though, it's perfect, 5 mins. from Plaza Vieja.
The house is very elegant, in a colonial style with high ceiling, and located a few minutes from the plaza vieja. Paula and her daughter Danaysi were pleasant, made efforts to understand my poor spanish, and gave me good advice for my starting trip across the island. They also helped me find good casas in Vinales and Trinidad, where I felt comfortable as well.
I stayed with Paula and her family at our arrival at La Habana and had booked 2 other nights for the end of our stay in Cuba. During our initial stay with them, Danaysi told me that there had been a miscommunication. She is managing the bookings on the website from Belgium where she lives most of the year. She accepted our reservation but found out later that her mother Paula had already reservations for the rooms on our dates. She also get tourists from a French agency. So Danaysi had organised for us to stay at one of her friend who is also welcoming tourists. We were a bit disappointed. We would have prefer to find out about this before our departure in order to be able to make our own decision. However, since we were already there and did not have an easy internet connexion, we decided to go with it. The room she booked for us was clean, and confortable, and well situated. The host Jaba and her husband were extremely nice. We had some nice and genuine conversations with them. The breakfast was also very good. However, we had been looking for a nice colonial house with charm and character. This is one of the reasons we had chosen Paula's house even though it was a little more expensive. Joba's house is clean, practical, basic and convenient but has no character. We still pay the same price agreed on for the rooms booked at Paula's but I don't think it was equivalent. We did not discuss the price because Joba's warm welcome compensated.
This beautiful colonial house is well located. We felt very welcomed by Danaysi (Paula's daughter) who was there for the summer. We had nice conversations with Paula and Michel (Paula's son). Breakfast was very good. We stayed in the room for 2 persons. The room and the adjacent bathroom was big and clean. I loved the high ceilings in the house. Unfortunately, the room I booked did not have air conditioning. The other rooms have it though. I had read that some of the facilities of this house was air conditioning, but I did not understand that the room I booked did not have it. So just be careful. Danaysi provided us with fans but the heat of La Habana in July was heavy. I would go again bu would book the other rooms.
