I am sure Eli and Ehsan were disappointed that I decided after viewing the apartment not to stay there. It was much farther away from the centre than they said in their listing and I am pretty sure it was not their home, since both bedrooms were rented out and the place was not furnished like a home . Perhaps they rent it out just as a moneymaking operation, but the reason I go to a website called "Homestay" is because I want to stay in someone's home with them. The major problem was that there was no wifi, which I need for my work. First they said it was broken and it would be fixed. Then they said we said in the listing that there was no wifi (actually, they didn't; when I checked, they don't say there is wifi, which is different and all other places have it). Then they said that I could tether to Ehsan's phone when he was there. So the story kept changing and it just didn't feel right. The flat is upstairs in a gloomy building and is not homely at all. They were angry that I cancelled because they said it would cost them money, but since I booked only 24 hours ahead, I don't accept that they would have suffered a loss. It was also quite expensive, more than the Niayesh Hotel which is owrfectly situated for a visitor and which I highly recommend.

It is hard to find the words to express how much I enjoyed staying with Isaac and Saba. First, their apartment is ideally situated in the centre of Isfahan, within easy walking distance of the main square. The room is very spacious and comfortable. But far more important, they are extremely hospitable, excellent and informative conversationalists with an educated and internationalist outlook. They have a very good sense of humour, they are kind and extremely helpful and really just the ideal hosts. Do not even consider staying anywhere else. This was easily my best homestay in Iran.
The room is very big and comfortable and the breakfast great. Unfortunately the house is some distance from the centre of the city. The listing that said it was in the middle of old city was inaccurate. Maya says she will update but it is worth checking. Beware of the cat; it is bad-tempered.
Ahmad was a great host. The room is quite small and cluttered, but the apartment's location, so close to the metro, is ideal. Ahmad was extremely helpful in answering questions and offering advice and showed me good places to eat in the neighbourhood and near the Bazaar. His parents, though they speak no English, are lovely and kind. if you are happy with a small room, I completely recommend this place.
